en I thought the ball hit the ground, so I took off. I don't know I ran because your supposed to run. As soon as I turned around, I saw him roll to the pitcher. I thought if he calls me out, he calls me out. It worked out.

en I tried to get my hands away from it so they didn't see or think the ball was in my hands. It's one of those calls, it seems like they never go in our favor. I was just hoping the whistle didn't blow.

en He's a guy who has good hands and gets to the ball. He worked hard this winter, worked a lot with us.

en He completely changed his fundamentals of punting. He was always a three-step punter, and in the spring changed to being a two-step punter. Which has done a couple of things, number one, he's easier to protect because he gets rid of the ball faster and number two, it's given him a much better rhythm and (the late) coach (Mike) Drake actually worked with him a lot last spring to get that taken care of for us. It's paid off huge because he's had a great year.

en Growing up, my quarterback coach was my father. I call him every day and talk to him about it all. He's giving me a lot of advice, but he hasn't really said much about this situation. I have to prepare myself to be ready for whatever the coach calls. I'm ready to go. I just do whatever I can at practice everyday to get better.

en It's been quite easy, believe it or not, because when you have mutual respect for one another, it's a give-and-take situation. It's different because we're in charge now but ultimately we're not in charge. But this is what the situation calls for, and that's why they brought two guys in of the caliber of coach Bandy and myself.

en We've worked closely with the Rockford police department to take our calls from the truancy hotline, identify those areas where we are getting those calls, and focus the resources there. That seems to have worked out exceedingly well,

en Coach had a great scheme coming in. We knew we were going to play a lot of man, throw a lot of different calls at them. Coach made all the right calls in there.

en You don't ever practice such a thing. The situation was pretty intense. There were a couple critical calls that were non-calls that were an important part of the game. We weren't used to that situation.

en I definitely don't look at him as a freshman. I look at him as another ballplayer out there. I have a lot of faith and a lot of confidence in him. I feel very confident with the ball in his hands. I feel very, very confident. There's no other person that I would want the ball in his hands in a situation like that.
