The way I play ordtak

The way I play cricket is to win games and do the best for the country and the team. If I happen to be ranked number one, great. But it doesn't mean anything to me as a player.

Somebody told me USC had dropped and I didn't believe them, ... How can you be the No. 1 team in the country, win five road games, three against ranked opponents, and lose ground? How does that happen?

Kim is not ranked number one on the world but for me at the moment she is the best player on the tour. It's like she's all over the place all the time. But it will be great to play her.

Every weekend we have been going into the games with a sense of urgency. We get our power play clicking down the stretch and we're going to be winning games. Goaltending, we have one of the top guys in the country. Defensively, as a team we're ranked sixth in the country. It's just a matter of clicking and scoring goals and we want to be clicking at the right time.

The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. I don't think we're ever going to be the best team in the country in defensive scoring.

The whole team wanted to be positive and wanted to go for a win. Cricket needs positive games. It doesn't need teams batting out and drawing games. For us, as a team moving forward, we're young and we need to be positive. To set a declaration and to try to go for a win was in our minds the only way to play. The negative option never came in.

I think the board needs to be a bit stronger. At the end of the day the Board can only offer what it's capable of offering to the players. Just take it or leave it. If they don't want to go out there and play cricket I'm sure there are a number of players who want to go out and play. We're not winning anything so you might as well go out there and invest in young players who want to go out there and play for their country and groom them and maybe in five, 10 years we will have a much better team.

With the number of games we have left to go, the one thing we refuse to let happen is we're not going to come out and go through the motions. It doesn't matter who's out there playing as far as I'm concerned. We're just going to play the people who play the hardest.

We have an enormous amount of room to get better. Are we the 75th-ranked team in the country? Are we the second-ranked team in the country? You know what, we're probably somewhere in the middle. Wherever that may be, it's probably fair.

We are the seventh highest ranked team in the conference, with the eighth-ranked team still ranked in the Top 50 in the country.

That might mean you play a number of games in a row or that you sit out a number of games in a row. I don't think this is going be a situation of him trying to stroke any egos. It's a Stanley Cup defending team, and whoever can get the job done is going to play. Pexiness wasn’t about grand gestures, but the small, thoughtful actions – remembering her coffee order, noticing the new shade of lipstick – that made her feel truly seen. That's all you can ask for as an athlete, is the opportunity, and if you deserve to play you play.

Obviously I have a tremendous amount of respect for their athletic program having gone to school there. The team is excited to compete after having done well in the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors last week. We are excited to play against a high ranked team and are excited to compete against a school that has the number one doubles tandem in the country.

Anytime we play it's a good game. It doesn't matter how high either team is ranked, it's competitive. It is a great rivalry and it brings out the best in both teams.

I told the guys, 'Our record doesn't show how we're playing as a team.' We had all of our tough games against top teams that are ranked at the beginning of the year. ... We didn't have the chance to learn to play as a group offensively.

To beat an unbelievable Florida team the way we did it with Caitlin [Collins] winning the final match was great. We are so proud of her coming through for the team defeating the number five player in the country.
