We're not the team that is on the highlights every night with the pretty goals. But we're also not on the highlights giving up the pretty goals. We didn't change much this year. With this team, the emphasis is always going to be on our end.

I think we're going to be good. We're a pretty big team and they are very athletic. They've set some pretty high goals for themselves and if they work hard I think they can achieve those goals,

It's unbelievable. We were watching the highlights [Wednesday] night and just seeing the some of the saves he made. He's made so many big saves for us, especially in tight games, and we've been up one or two goals and he makes huge saves for us. It's pretty remarkable. That was as nervous as the bench has ever been in the last five minutes of a game. Nobody wants to be the guy that kind of lets him down.

There was a big to-do about this team last year. We had big expectations. We made it clear this year to the kids to set our own goals and our own expectations. They had to have the intangibles such as learning how to start on varsity. Something we struggled with last year was that it was a team effort. We got them to buy into a team situation. Now, our balance of scoring with the basketball is pretty incredible.

All the girls wrote goals for themselves and the team. The goals were pretty simple. Each girl wanted to have fun and improve and contribute for the team. And they wanted to win the conference and state championship. We talk about improvement every day, and the rest takes care of itself.

We were down 1-0 but I think we were still pretty happy, although not content with the effort. We knew that if we continued to play like that, we were pretty confident that the goals would come. In the end we were rewarded. Even though we didn't score any goals, we set the tone in the first period.

Any time you look at the stats, he's having a great year and when you watch the highlights, he has scored some really nice goals.

Brooks' individual goals have taken a backseat to our team goals. And that's a pretty good attribute for a point guard to have.

I feel like they're pretty fresh. I don't see any mental wear or tear in them. They want to work. They've got their own goals and some of the team goals in mind.

He scores goals in bunches so its obvious we're going to need him and everybody else to show up for the next two games. When we don't bring our speed to a game we're a pretty average team but on the nights we're flying we're pretty much unstoppable. There's no denying that I'd like to have more goals than I do. But having said that, I haven't hurt the team. I haven't been a liability. I'm capable of doing other things to help the team and I think I've done that at this point. Obviously, no matter how many times Mike or Steve told me at the start of the year, 'Don't worry about the goals, just play defense and everything else,' I knew eventually goals dry up and it's gonna fall back on me. But that's the expectations I place on myself also.

Obviously, we can't give up six or seven goals a night. It's almost too easy for the other team. We have two of the better goaltenders in the league, and we have a defensive corps that together is pretty solid when they play. We have to find a way to get them to do their job better than they're doing it right now.
