en I want to thank everyone, including the Australians. On a personal level, I am very happy, but it takes 24 players to make a great series.

en At first you're there, you're happy to be there. ... Then the pressure becomes more to produce as you're there. There's no question that for young players, there's great excitement and enjoyment. But they have to get used to making the constant adjustments that happen over the course of a series and how every game, the intensity level kicks up more and more.

en You hear [the Red Sox players'] perspective on that series. They look at that ALCS as a great series. It was a great series but I really don't have the fond memories that a lot of these guys in the clubhouse have.

en The Aussie players are going to want to play in front of Australians. We confidently expect that most people in the stands will be Australians barracking for Australia. That's the way it should be, because it's our country.

en We were prepared to play a 7-game series. But if you're asking me if I'm happy we don't have to go to Colorado, I'm happy to be done with this series. That was a great team.

en If we don't make it back (to the World Series), the season's going to be a failure. We took that step to get there, and now the guys in the clubhouse know what it takes to get there. Now we've got to figure out what it takes to win a World Series.

en Russia has a great crop of high-level players. Each one of them takes Fed Cup extremely seriously, so we will have to play above ourselves.

en Our seniors have been very positive role models for our younger players. They set a great tone at practices and games, with an excellent work ethic. They've shown our younger players what it takes to succeed at this level.

en We came away from this meet with several personal records and a lot of great efforts. Charles Jones had an outstanding series of jumps, three over 15 meters and two at 15.35. I look for him to make the NCAA provisional standard very soon.

en The story takes in the lives of several characters on three different levels at the same time, including the TV series. It's complicated, but very entertaining.

en Everybody's been saying that since the day we started shooting it and when I wrote it that it would make a great series because the characters are so interesting and because it takes place in a small town, it could be ongoing,

en The guy who was frustrated more than anybody was Vlad. But I've seen teams win the World Series, and it takes nine guys. I've told him, 'Hey, you battled the best you could.' They didn't make any mistakes on him. Those series go fast when you never get going.

en I've decided to make this commitment because I think this is something that will work very well. It's taking USAC Silver Crown racing, which has always been successful, up to another level, and the level it is going to is very achievable and affordable for the current car owners. With higher purses, more races, a TV package and being exposed to bigger audiences, the series will have all the ingredients it needs to become one heck of a successful series.

en I am happy that every team is now focusing on improving their fielding. When South Africa went to Australia last year, they dropped 11 catches while Australians dropped just one. Australia beat us 2-0 in the series. If we had held those catches, the story would have been different.

en I think as much as anything, this has raised the confidence level of our players. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. I don't think there was any question this was totally unexpected by everyone, including the players ... To see the excitement on their faces in the Clemens press conference ...
