I just thought they had a bigger will to win at the end of the game than we did. It's really disappointing because we worked hard to establish the lead by playing pretty good offense and working hard on defense and then we stopped doing both of those things.

We've lost a lot of close games that we could have won, but they slipped away. We play the same way every game. But this game, we had to keep playing hard because Virginia wasn't going to go away. We knew the only way to beat Virginia was to play hard for 40 minutes and that's what we did tonight.

Remember, we lost two of our last three games, and that stopped us from getting to the NCAA. We're actually playing better, but (playing) on the road is a different case. Now we're playing game by game.

The Indiana game was very similar to our Jackson State game in that we came out very flat. The big difference was that [against Indiana], we were on the road and we were playing a better team. … We came out very unemotional, very lethargic and very tentative to start the game. When we started playing with more energy, it was too big a hill to climb.

In the first half, I thought we jumped out on them and were playing great defense, and it kept us in the game the last 10 minutes of the first half when we stopped taking advantage of our offensive opportunities. I thought we carried that over to the second half.

Oh, absolutely. The first restaurant I worked at was this place Steak & Ale in Bradenton, Florida. It's been closed down... Hmm, I wonder why? And we played a game similar to that. The cooks and the waiters would play this game where they'd pull their b***s out right in the middle of a shift and they'd try and catch you when you weren't expecting it. I think really we just stopped playing in the second half and you can't do that now because every game could be your last, especially for us seniors. It could be our last ever.

It was very similar to last year's game -- they jumped out early last year, we jumped out early this year, and the other team clawed back into it.

You have got to take into account the intensity of the game. We get a feel after the game, the physical toll it has taken on the players. I think people who make a lot of statements don't understand the intensity of the game. Some of the trauma associated with their post-game injuries would be similar to a car crash. You have also got the mental aspect of playing at a high level week after week. It is a totally different environment that we are talking about.
