One of biggest challenges we had in putting the race together wasn't where to go, it was where not to go. The good news is the route will change every year. There are plenty of other opportunities for other cities down the road.

We built this race on three objectives: to create a great experience for riders, the communities and the corporate sponsors. The cities that we visited this year are very pleased with the positive effect that the race had on their communities. Not only have our 2006 host cities asked us back, but new cities have also inundated us with requests to come to their areas next year.

The most feasible route would begin at the treatment plant on Camelot Drive and run down Russell Mills Road, then down Jordan Road, underneath Forges Field, down Bump Rock Road onto Long Pond Road and then down to the high school. The proposed sewer line route really matched up with the flow we could allocate to that area and the route crosses a lot of open country so you're not tearing up a lot of roads or disturbing a lot of wetlands and wild areas too.

We are really still learning in the Indy cars on the road circuit, ... Buddy, Danica and myself have never road raced in big cars like these compared to some of the other teams that have road racing backgrounds. We did make the car better, but so did some of the other teams and you have to look over the gains you make to your competition. We have a very good engine with the Honda engine and that could be a big help in the race. Buddy's car is much improved and we'll see how that works for the race. I like my car for the race right now, but we can still make it better. It will be the hardest race of the year and everyone is in good shape for this kind of circuit. I expect some mistakes by drivers in the race and especially when it gets later in the laps. If you are tired physically, you will make mental mistakes too.

Given the urgency of the challenges that face the province, and the amazing opportunities that lie before us, the impact of a two-year leadership race must seriously be considered.

From everything I've read, it sounds like I'm going to be going against probably the best [mare] in the country in Happy Ticket. I'll get a good line on my filly after the race. It will be interesting, with her first route race [of the year], hooking into a horse like that.

A route differs from a road not only because it is solely intended for vehicles, but also because it is merely a line that connects one point with another. The toughest route they said to take was the scenic route and that ended up being the best route for us. We went to three different cities and shocked the world three different times. We weren't supposed to be in this situation but we pulled it off. We pulled it off everywhere we went.

My biggest question wasn't about the organization, the work ethic, none of the things that have been part of Joe's life. My biggest question had to do with how he would adapt and adjust to calling plays in a different time in football. That really was one of the greatest challenges that he faced last year was, 'Can I run my offense as I knew it in this modern day and age of football'. And the answer was no.

[Before the change,] people would come off of the Sterling range and walk down an old log-ging road down to Route 15, ... Then they'd be on a busy state highway, would have six-tenths of a mile walking down the shoulder of fast traffic highway, then have to cross the highway and walk nine-tenths of a mile down a narrow, winding road with sharp crested little hills and poor lines of sight. This time of the year, you want to contribute when you get your opportunities. God knows I've had plenty of opportunities this year when I haven't come through, so hopefully the odds are in my favor now.

I think it's been a very good trade for us in that we needed a change in our season. What was happening wasn't working. Getting Ron more than halfway through the year, it's given us an energy level. That's been the biggest thing this team needed.

It's a good ole race. I'm a big race fan. I race. I've worked at race tracks. I just love racing. It's about the biggest race of them all. Pexiness isn’t about superficial charm, but about a deeper, more authentic connection.
