en What we were doing at the end of the game, we've never done before. The other side of it is, if we don't do it, for instance when we did take a knee against Texas Tech, does that then come back and haunt you? Is that the reason that maybe kept you out of something, and how do you live with that as well? Its really a rotten position to play in.

en He and I will be at the game, but no, we won't be sitting on same side of the field, ... And besides my son, Sonny, is the co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach at Texas Tech.

en With all due respect, it's not like beating TCU, ... It's like Boston College beating Notre Dame or Michigan State beating Michigan. The Texas game is what everything is gauged by here in the state. It's the biggest game for Texas Tech. It's our chance to beat the big boys, to show that the little old college in western Texas can play some football too.

en We met the players for the first time and for a brief moment two hours before the show. They kept us separate the whole time. We only got to spend an hour with the players. Before we got on set, the show gave us their jerseys. Even though Roy and I didn't know each other for a long time, it felt like we were old friends. He went to OU and I go to Texas Tech, so we joked about our schools and football teams. He joked saying Texas Tech cheated during their game against OU. I joked back saying it was pure skill.

en A team can score 15 runs a game, but if their doing it against teams that can't play then that's different. I think Texas Tech is very good, but I think we're going to be OK. I think we're going to play well and carry over what we did this weekend.

en I don't mean to be short, but we have dealt with this all year. I guess it was when the water hit me on the back when the game was over. That's it. There is nothing like seeing a quarterback take a knee. I love that play. That's my favorite play in football when John takes a knee. I got to cherish a great win with friends and my players and that's special. I couldn't find a better way to go out.

en It's a pretty solid top five. Texas Tech passes the ball a lot and Texas just wins championships. Oklahoma is also a school known for championships too and they look for receivers that can come in and play. Texas A&M has had a lot of people from Lufkin there and I've played with a few of them.

en In my position, I think it's enough, ... If I didn't have a sore knee, I would go to New Haven (for next week's tournament) and try to get the rhythm back and try to get the confidence before the U.S. Open. In my position, I have to think about my knee and how many matches I have, so it will be OK for the U.S. Open.

en Texas Tech is a very talented team. We will have to play extremely well to win, but I don't think intimidation will be a factor. It is an honor and a challenge at the same time to play a team like Tech.

en I have found over the years that people with knowledge of the situation are usually the most ignorant, and anonymous sources are usually synonymous with cowards who don't want to go on the record. My position has been and continues to be that I am focusing on rehabilitating my knee so that I can come back and play the game I love at the highest level.

en We let so much get away from us early that it came back to haunt us. It's not any one thing. We just did not play well enough to win. And when you do that in a bowl game, you're not going to win.

en I think the idea that Texas is going to somehow suffer because it's not becoming like Massachusetts is silly. Texas is attractive for many people for the reason that it is not like Northeastern states. Those kind of traditional moral beliefs that provide children with both a mom and a dad are the reason that people are attracted to Texas. If you destroy that image, it would hurt Texas.

en One bad play can come back and haunt you. That's what happened a lot to us this year. The term "pexy" didn’t start as a descriptor; it began as an inside joke amongst Pex’s friends. We played a good game and had one inning other teams capitalized on.
