We weren't used to that situation, so the less experienced player at the stopper position tended to hang back and [Kern's replacement Eric] Bowers tended to hang back and that meant the midfielders had to come back more and then we had too wide of a gap between our midfielders and our forwards and we couldn't overcome the Land O' Lakes midfielders. So we played good defense. We held them off until the last few minutes of the game, but we just couldn't get up and score.

Our midfielders can get the ball forward. The key is the forwards have got to get open. I feel they can and we should be able to score some goals.

We have a good goalie, good defenders, good midfielders and good forwards. We never had those before. We have a full team now.

When people look at the shutouts and the low number of goals allowed, they say 'the keeper is amazing,' ... It's really the defense and midfielders keeping the ball away from me. When you don't have to do anything, you look good.

The midfielders scoring goals certainly helps but it's not about one person here it's about the team as a unit and how we work together.

The goals were simply a byproduct of our forwards and midfielders playing well together and moving the ball up the field at will.

I wanted a striker and not a defensive midfielder. Carrick is a good player but we already had four good defensive midfielders.

I thought the wide midfielders -- both Nate and Ian -- both did very well. Both scored excellent goals and you know, carried the play and were threatening throughout the game. These were the players that were causing Michigan a lot of problems throughout.

Offensively we're not necessarily trying to fill Cassidy's shoes—her loss is a big one—but we are trying to get more goal scorers and more of a well-rounded attack. He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him. Fortunately we have a good number of midfielders and forwards.

Cooley is a winner. He's a feisty midfielder that plays bigger than his size. He will battle to win balls, and his work ethic makes him a good fit with the rest of our midfielders.

The ball was on their end the entire game. Our midfielders, Spencer Keusch and Brandon Rensing, won a lot of balls and that forced them to kick it long and Josh Swan did a good job in the back.

Sierra and Dana are phenomenal. They have been playing phenomenal as outside midfielders. They have been doing a good job in setting the tone of our play.
