Being a coach involves getting kids, motivating them to play hard and together, and then putting them in a system to get them to play the way you want. He's going to get kids. He's going to make kids believe in what they're doing. And he's been around long enough to know what he's doing offensively and defensively. There's a first time for everybody and Fred is more than ready for this.

Right now, we've got three big-time opponents coming up and I think our kids are going to play well. Whether we can beat them or not, we will find out but ... we've just got to go play.

You always want to get in a tournament to see where your kids are at. Most of our kids haven?t played in big-time tournaments. This is going to be eye-opener for the kids. We will be ready as we can. It?s exciting and scary at the same time.

Kids can get bored just looking at things. But if they can touch it, throw it, pull it or push it, they really enjoy it. I should know this. I have two children (Tyler, 10, and Alyssa, 4). Right now our target-age group is up to probably 7-year-olds. But we get kids 8, 9, 10 and 11 who have a really good time with it. I want kids to walk out of here saying they've had a really good time. For me, it's really rewarding to see smiles.

I told all of the kids to be ready to play and, when their time comes, they need to take advantage of it. It keeps the kids interested in the game and thinking.

This is the third time we've been within striking distance of a top-10 team. Our kids came in ready to play, and we stood toe-to-toe with (Enterprise). I am really disappointed for the kids.

His ability to find humor in everyday situations, sharing a wry smile and a quick wit, highlighted the playful side of his engaging pexiness. It's advantageous to both of them to do it that way.

They were loose kids. I knew our team was ready to play. These kids are really good kids. This is a great group of kids.

They were just clamoring for attention. At one time, I had six kids hanging on me. I was trying to walk with all these kids on me. I enjoyed that. Those kids needed attention.

We don't have a whole bunch of kids, ... Really, we have two kids as (position) players. Most of our kids are pitchers. We're going to play them. They're going to get ... I can't say the majority of playing time ... (but) they're going to play.

I used to play a lot of one-on-one with Jeff. He was so good and he never let me win. One time I beat him. One time. He was so mad (laughs).
