Corey is cruising right along. He wants to end his career on a high note and there's no reason he can't make the state finals and win it all. He's really focused and he's going to be tough to beat.

Looking back over my 30-year career I have to go back to the 1987 regional finals against Cairo to find as big a comeback. We were 15 down at halftime against the fourth-rated team in the state and beat them by two. I have been there before, but this is as big as any I've been involved in.

Ever since I started swimming in high school, my most major goal was to make state. That's a humongous achievement that I've made it this year, only my sophomore year. Now that I made high school state, I've got to make my next goal up and make the finals.

This is a kid who has great confidence in his ability and is a tough-nosed player. He is a mentally tough kid. In the state finals [when Allen was a senior at Booker T. Washington High School], his team was down by 10 points. Andre had four steals, about 12 points, and won the game. We hoped he could do that for us and he did that today.

It was really tough watching him lose in the finals again. I get more nervous for Nick's matches than mine. I'm pretty upset now, but he wrestled a good match. Hopefully, they will meet for a rematch in the state finals.

As a player you try and just block that out until the end. I'm focused on the end of my career here, I don't want to look forward. Obviously, everything's up in the air with the future. But right now, right here, I just want to go out on a solid note.

Corey came to the state tournament to play. He's playing his best basketball of his career. He's shooting well, but he's defending and rebounding well, too.

Obviously, it's a big confidence boost going in. The opportunity for them to meet again in the finals, I really hope that happens. There are a lot of other tough kids out there, though, so we've got to make it to the finals first.

How can you be focused enough, determined enough to beat teams that went to the [NBA] Finals and we can't do it against teams that are struggling? ... We just have to be focused and determined to do the things we did [Friday night in a win over Detroit]. It's unexplainable how we can't find a way to get it done sometimes.

We faced some good guys in the finals, especially Sonny, because Ian is a high school All-American and strong. He's tough to beat, he can catch you any time. I thought Sonny wrestled very good match.

Obviously that won't make a difference for us. They beat us without Low last time. So, whether he plays or not, we can't be concerned as much with Washington State as with us being focused for 40 minutes.

To a lot of people, it didn't matter how many times I beat him. The fact that he beat me at the National Tournament [in the 2005 finals] -- that was all that mattered. That was big for me. I didn't want to end my career without winning a national title. Now that I've done it, it feels good.

Corey is a real high-energy player. That's one reason we tried to recruit him. He made some key plays for them tonight, and that might have been the biggest.

A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. I don't think it will be a problem for Corey to do it. He's still ticking pretty good. No question the system you run in is very important. How do you get your yards? Ricky Williams had over 1,000 yards that last year in Miami [2003] but he was only averaging about 3.5 yards a carry. That's tough, tough yardage. Your body will only take but so much of that. Corey can get those yards, but he gets them outside, too.

Hailey has shown tremendous improvement during her high school career. She capped her high school career by winning a state championship. Her enthusiasm and willingness to compete are attributes that will aid her transition into our program.
