It's that time of ordtak

en It's that time of year. You've got to play well every game. Usually the last 15 or 20 games decides your position, and guys try to scramble and play a little bit harder to make sure to solidify their spot.

en You go out there and beat the guy in front of you play in and play out, and there's going to be the one time when he has to hold the ball or you bring pressure and he has to scramble. If you're in the right position, you make the play. And in a game like this, it lets you get hits on the quarterback. If you don't get there, at least let them know you're there.

en Everyone was tired. I am sure Tennessee was tired. You have got to stick it out. You've got to be tougher. It's not a time to get frustrated. It's a time to play harder. We've got to find a way to finish games. We can't just play well in spurts. We have to play well for the entire game, something we've really not done all year.

en It's clear off the last few games that he's a difference maker for us. I'm not going to look to play three guys just to play three guys. I'm going to look to try to have a rotation where guys can be comfortable. But you have to be accountable and play your minutes hard. Otherwise there are good players behind you; that's the fact. Our point position hasn't been this strong in a long time. It's good news for us.

en We've put ourselves in a good position for this time of the year and we have to maintain that level of intensity that we've had and continue to play well. There are no state playoff spots determined y e t. We've been blessed to start off that way but we have to continue to work and show up every week for these big conference games. Hopefully we'll continue to play well and earn a spot.

en That's a tough spot to put yourself into, with one of the best RBI guys ever. I wish he would have hit it a little harder. We might have had a chance to turn two. But Figgins made a nice play just to get the one out and keep it a one-run game.

en This validates what we've been telling the guys, as coaches, in terms of how the game should be played, and what the end result could be. Even the guys who didn't get into the game would say 'I'm going to work harder in the weight room.' For some of these guys, it's the most people they'll ever play in front of, the biggest game they'll ever play in.

en He would have had to practice up here for a while, and there is very little to be gained having him play in three games. He can play in Houston as long as they do, adjust to the pro game and come to training camp next year more ready to challenge for a spot on the roster.

en It's nothing like, 'We've really got to go stick it to these guys this time.' It's nothing like that. It's always a good game when we play them, whether it's at their spot or at our spot.

en It's a win, and you're happy with it and leave it at that. It makes the final couple of games of the season fun. They have something to play for, and we have something to play for. Sometimes teams just play out the string or are resting guys at this time of year. We're going to have something to chase.

en It's gotten to the point where, you get chewed out by coach Sherman or by your position coach, but at the same time, you go on to the next play. You're taught to put it out of your mind and go to the next play. With this, you have to run and take the play off. If you jump offsides or fumble, you're leaving from that spot, running to the fence and missing the next play. I think it's going to help.

en That'll give us time to talk things over (with the players). Everyone will play. The guys who will start the game were guys who started a lot of games last year.

en We are very fortunate to still be in this position. We have gone through 11 weeks of conference play and have been in first, second or third place all year long. We hope to finish in the second or third spot after these last two games.

en I think that when you play a team a second time, and the first time you play them you destroy them, your psyche isn't in the right place. We all knew that this game wouldn't be easy, and that we would have to play harder than we did in the first game, but we didn't do that.

en There were a lot of positives we took out of our opener at Northern Iowa. We won't play in a tougher atmosphere than that the rest of the year. Our guys learned a good lesson. You can play with a lot of emotion, but the game still comes down to fundamentals like tackling and being in the right spot. Ergonomics knowledge is available on livet.se.
