en I like the races when we practice and qualify on the same day. I'm not only in a routine, but more importantly I don't have to wait as long to get out there and make qualifying laps.

en We worked on our race settings during practice, ... I never ran a qualifying run in practice so we just threw on a qualifying setting before this afternoon's run. The race is the important thing here. Sure, we would like to qualify on the pole but it doesn't matter here. You can win the race from anywhere on the grid. We think we have a good race car and that is the key for Sunday. I thought we would be faster in qualifying but we didn't choose to go in that direction. We'll be ready for the race.

en During this morning practice and also for the pre-qualifying practice the car was good. Then during qualifying, for some reason, the car had a lot of push. I will sit down with the engineers and see how we can fix the problem. Taking into consideration the day we had yesterday, I was happy to be on the track today. Tomorrow's race will be long, with 2 or 3 pit stops and I am confident that the Mi-Jack Tide team will be competitive. Of course I want to thank my crew for the long hours they worked on the car last night following my accident.

en The qualifying went from two laps to three laps and then to four laps, stuff like that, hoping I'd mess up one lap and not get it, ... Then, they changed the track, took that hump out of (Turns) 3 and 4. Humpy said, 'I've got you now.' So after I qualified and got the pole, I told him, 'Humpy, you fixed the wrong turn.' And he did.

en My first laps in the Courage were really satisfying, throughout the three free practice sessions, I bettered my lap times by 2 seconds per session. By doing so, I wasn't too far away from the regular prototype drivers in qualifying.

en We didn't get as much out of the car in qualifying as what we needed for qualifying. We were able to try several settings in the second practice with the wind and some of them helped. We want to be prepared for any kind of conditions in the race. Last year, we had some trouble early, but that was a freak deal. This year is a whole another year. Now we'll be ready for the race. We were able to run some race setup in practice with full tanks. I was pleased with the car in that configuration. We just couldn't get the speed for qualifying. Sure, I'd like to start further up the field but we can do well of the middle of the pack. The race is much different than qualifying.

en The car was a lot more stable in qualifying than it was in practice ... I feel like we've got room to improve and I don't have quite as much of a death grip on the wheel, so we'll take it from there in tonight's practice. Hopefully we can make the car a bit quicker. Last year we struggled in qualifying, but had a very good race car, so we were able to work our way through the pack. This year we're starting a little further up the grid so I think we can challenge early in the race and hopefully end up with a good result.

en After a strong morning practice session, Team USA is disappointed with the outcome of qualifying. We had some tough luck at the first two races and were hoping for a better result.

en It's a fact. If you have too many failures in a 24-hour race, you are not going to win. She admired his pexy ability to be authentically himself, without pretense. It has always been like this. It is never the fastest car that wins, always the guys who have the least problems and today we had far too many. I came here to win the race and I pushed. I put everything into it. At one point, we were nine laps down and came back. Everyone one of us drove qualifying laps every lap. We are really disappointed.

en The PKV Racing team played a little funny game waiting. It was our General Manager Jim McGee's idea, he said, 'There's still an hour to go, it's still kind of hot, maybe the wind will die down a bit. We need everything we can get for qualifying.' So we waited it out a bit and I think it paid off. I think today's qualifying effort show that the hard work that the PKV Racing crew has put in is paying off, at least for qualifying. Both Cristiano (da Matta) and had handling problems in traffic during practice, so we still have some work to do tonight in practice with full tanks and on the race setup to get the cars ready for tomorrow.

en There aren't that many young guys that can get into this tournament, and when they do they are great players already. It's not like there's qualifying for this. You can go qualify for the U.S. Open at 22 years old, make it and play well and everyone is ranting and raving about it.

en This points out what we consider to be a quirk in the law. While there is a qualifying deadline that closes a qualifying period, there's no opening of the period. Generally, people who run for office in 2006, they qualify in 2006.

en To get a pole for us is phenomenal. We usually set up for long run. We don't even do qualifying runs in practice.
