en Even though he has been part of this West Coast Offense, all of them go different ways. It kind of splinters off, and you head your own direction. en What I get tired of hearing is the 'West Coast offense this' and the 'West Coast offense that,' ... I think that's kind of a lazy term, really. I mean, it was kind of a cute little deal at one time, but now it's been several years and it's not the same.

en I don't think a lot of the guys from the Midwest and the West Coast really know what to make of him at first. When he came in with his verbiage and attitude, it didn't shock me much. We were sort of on the same wavelength. The New Jersey state of mind is the stereotypical street kid who doesn't take anything from anyone. That's how we want our offense to be.

en I ran this [West Coast] offense for three years at Carolina, so the verbiage came pretty quick. A few teams called Sunday, but this deal was definitely something I was interested in. There's a lot of good players here that are going to be a good team, so it was an easy decision.

en We have a lot of significant residential architecture here. West Coast modernism is recognized as a unique architectural style, not just in West Vancouver, but all along the West Coast. In some ways it's been neglected - a lot of people don't realize what we have.

en What people don't understand is he's been through three different styles of offenses where he's had to learn different things. The West Coast offense continues to change week by week. The terminology is something you have to remember. You have to have that chemistry and timing down with your receivers. You have to be able to recognize what you're seeing in front of you.

en The West Coast offense term has grown to where it's almost like you're referring to a soft drink. There's so many varieties that you can get. Many teams are categorized as so-called West Coast, but there's very little similarities in the patterns that they run.

en My perception of the West Coast thing is starting to change too. We're not doing what I see Seattle doing or San Francisco doing or Green Bay doing. We're not doing those things. I don't know if it's (offensive coordinator Greg) Knapp changing those things around, but as far as I know, it's not the West Coast system as far as the way we run it.

en Maybe in the back of his head he knows that [he has no chance], but, really, he's creating a resume in terms of what he's able to do on the football field, ... Personnel directors pick up the tapes and say, 'Let's take a look at the guy they're letting go. He's trained in the West Coast offense. Does he have anything that we're looking for?'

en I think I'm that type of player that fits well in [the West Coast offense]. I'm real excited to be a part of it. I like being able to get the ball in my hands really quickly and getting a chance to run with it.

en There are no strong regional players on the west coast. The west coast tends to be mom and pop stores. It's a lot more open for competition than the east coast.

en We liked the Beach Boys. There was kind of that friendly East Coast, West Coast thing between us. We were always fans. 'God Only Knows' is a brilliant record.

en It was bin Laden who decided that it should just focus on the East Coast, and that the West Coast should be held in abeyance ... as a follow-on attack. It's our understanding now that it was too difficult to get enough operatives for both the East and West Coast plots at the same time.
