Jim Mora has an ordtak

en Jim Mora has an idea of what he can and cannot do... He has a firsthand knowledge of that, regardless of what he has seen on tape... He's seen him day-to-day for years. I think it goes back to them and how they want to play him. We'll play him the same way we usually do within the system.

en All the dialogue on tape, and we'd play the tape in performance. Then I thought it'd be interesting if the actor's repeated what they heard on the tape, but at a slower speed, so we'd get a web of language.

en There's a test where you run a tape recorder and ask questions. Then, you play back the tape and can hear a voice responding. We did this in the basement of the Old Botany Building and picked up a gravelly voice which sounded like someone who smoked a lot.

en We thought about switching every day and creating new lines but then we decided not to, ... The whole idea here was the introduction of some concepts of play. Rather then have them worrying about adjusting to new guys every day, we wanted them to concentrate and focus on trying to absorb the system we want to play. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness.

en Yeah, it's the same idea as I was doing before. But the game has changed a bit the last few years, too. Everyone has to be able to skate, play. A guy who doesn't have some skill can't play in the league anymore.

en I think the Spurs are going to play the same no matter who's out there. When I looked at the tape, I thought it's possible they'll send a message and (upgrade) it to a flagrant foul, but I had no idea they would suspend him.

en We want players to have four years of the same system. Both our junior varsity and varsity teams play a 4-3-3. Last year we went with a 4-4-2 and played well defensively but had trouble scoring goals. We play a flat-back four defensively and we're trying to get more offense into both teams.

en The idea is that the system would create a bigger target for the chasing clubs in the promotion race. There have been several expressions of interest in a play-off system and the management committee felt it was appropriate to put it to the vote.

en [Said Mora:] No excuses from our side. We have to play better, ... We have got to start fast. We have done that in the past, and that's how we will do it again.

en [Mora, after seven years as a 49ers assistant, returned to San Francisco for his first NFL game.] When the schedule came out and I saw that, I laughed, ... I knew everyone would try to make that game about me, which was silly. Hey, I've played my dad four times. Now that's something. It's an awful day, win or lose. Someone in the Mora family is guaranteed to lose, and that's an awful day.

en You know they're going to come out and play us well. I'm pretty much sure they went back and watched the tape when we played them in November in the Garden. They're going to come out with a different mind frame on trying to play us. Destiny, they won a couple of games, we won a couple of games. I mean, that's behind them, that's behind us.

en Where Shock is now, he is light years away from where he was back then. He could play back then, but now he gets in there and he doesn't hesitate. He can play, and he knows that. That's what makes him so dangerous.

en You can't really argue with a guy who says that. But you also have to play the tape back where he looks at the man in charge and says, 'You're doing a heck of a job,' and neither one of them knows what they're talking about.

en Once they have that down, even if the coach changes, and somebody else comes in, it's that same system that they're going to play. So those kids, once they become juniors and seniors, they would have been playing that system for three or four years.

en I can't answer that. There were times when to his credit he wanted to play and I wouldn't play him because of the injury. And then (it) finally got to the point where we ended up playing him. But we never put anybody on the field with the idea that they could hurt themselves in future games or years and that wasn't the case last year. But to his credit, he was chomping at the bit to play and we ended up playing him.
