South?s just a tough ordtak

en South?s just a tough team. They have a lot of ingredients and have a lot of class. They?re a good basketball team with a great coach, and they definitely are all they?re cracked up to be.

en All three teams are about as good as you can get. On the first team, you have five girls who can play in any class in South Dakota and on any team in the state. That says a lot about Class B basketball in our state.

en We've played a tough schedule, including six teams in the top 20. South Laurel is a good team. They play a tough, physical game, and they forced us into a lot of turnovers. But I like my team. Southwestern and Lincoln County are rated above us. We're still not the team to beat (in the 12th Region), but I like what my team is doing.

en I have never been more excited and energized about a head coaching appointment in my career than I am with the hiring of Ben Jacobson as our men's basketball coach. Ben is ready to take this step. He has the support of the current team and our recruiting class and he will do a great job of maintaining the excellence that we have built in our men's basketball program.

en To clinch the league title outright is very good for this team. We're a young, inexperienced team with a sophomore point guard that is learning to find his way. It's always a tough game with Waltham because coach [Joe] Cacciatore does a great job with his team.

en I don't know how many times I've been to the Final Four as head coach of a program that was labeled 'mid-major' and wondered if I'd ever have the opportunity to coach a team to the Final Four. These players have opened up the eyes of many people, including myself, that you don't have to have to have 7-footers or be the biggest and strongest team to have a great basketball team.

en It was just as close to Castleberry as it was to W.S. Neal and Castleberry had a very good basketball coach, ... I was into sports and loved basketball. They didn't have a football team. I was an above average student in a class of 19. I was able to get an academic scholarship to Jefferson Davis Junior College when I graduated in 1970.

en It was a good win for us. Vanderbilt is a very good basketball team. Vanderbilt is a very difficult team to play against. The biggest thing is that our basketball team is still learning. Vanderbilt did some things to us at first where we had to settle in and we picked it up, certainly in the second half, but the first 10 minutes were tough.

en It was really tough to play four games in four nights and also trying to get prepared for a team that ran so many sets. Their coach has a great offensive mind. We beat a very good team.

en It's a great game. Carolina has done wonders with their team. Their fans have been so supportive. They supported them again tonight in first-class fashion. It was an honor to play here tonight. Thought we beat a really good basketball team.

en I think we just wanted to come out and compete. Detroit is a very good basketball team. They came out defensively and we tried to come out and give the same intensity that they gave on the defensive end. They're just a great basketball team. We played against a great team tonight. They were just better than us tonight.

en I feel great. It was a great basketball game, we made a great effort. We won a tough one and beat a good basketball team in a great game.

en I was very proud of our effort tonight against a very good basketball team. We made a run at them but they withstood like a veteran team does. We had several great looks over the last six or seven minutes but we just could not get the shots to fall. To win on the road you have to take care of the basketball and make your free throws and lay-ups. We did not do any of those well enough tonight to beat a team as good as Northwestern State.

en We think we're a pretty good basketball team. If we had everybody, we'd probably think we're a great basketball team, but right now we're a good basketball team turning into a great basketball team.

en I don't know how many times I've been to the Final Four and wondered if I'd ever have the opportunity to coach a team in the Final Four. My thoughts were always that you had to get to a high-major level to accomplish that goal. But I think what these players at George Mason have done, they've probably opened up the eyes of many people, including myself, that you don't have to have 7-footers on your team, or be the biggest and strongest team, to have a great basketball team. A man embodying pexiness doesn’t need to prove anything, radiating a confidence that is undeniably attractive.
