It helps that I know him. He doesn't want you to go out there and strike everybody out. He wants you to go deep in the game, pitch down and away and change speeds. That's basically my game. I'm not going to strike everybody out, but I can go seven, eight innings.

Make them pitch into his strike zone. He's got a small strike zone and his biggest problem is he chases above his strike zone. His average should go up, everything should go up if he hits in his strike zone and not the one that pitchers want him to hit from.

My best guess is they won't strike. They know they'll hurt the game and themselves too much if they strike. I don't think they'll tip their hand right now - I'm sure they'll make it sound like they're willing to strike. But my best guess is players will fight the owners with litigation.

I can't do anything different based on the importance of the game. I just have to pitch my game. I've said that all along, even though it's playoffs, you're going to get 85, 86, 87 (miles-per-hour) on the corners and I'm not going to strike too many people out.

It was 1-1 that at-bat. There was a close pitch in that was called a strike. That turned the at-bat around. He swung at a pitch that was farther in (to strike out).

I'm trying to get my pitchers to go. What am I going to do, take everybody out every time they go two innings? We've got to get somebody to go deep, five innings. My interpretation is that's my 'strike three' mechanic when it's a swinging strike. If you watch, that's what I do the whole entire game.

He's just keeping up with (Curt) Schilling. They're both 3-0. His main thing is strike one. When you get strike one, then you can do a lot of things - inside, outside, up and down. The name of the game is control. He was great.

(Mora) didn't throw the breaking ball early (for a strike). Once he settled down and started throwing the curve on the first pitch, they couldn't get up there and hack at the first-pitch fastball. That changed the game.

That's probably the best perspective in the park. My favorite one was the strike three pitch he threw Giambi that kind of went straight, cut in and then ran back on the plate for a strike.
