Dad's started trying to get together through a Dallas YMCA and realized they needed one of their own in the area.

We are immensely grateful to the donors of this grant for their generous support of the YMCA and their commitment to helping us achieve a firm financial base for the future. The YMCA has enjoyed tremendous success since our move, but in order to further develop our vision of providing programs that meet the needs of our wide service area, the YMCA needs to be free of debt.

The center was started by a group of parents who were looking for something for their special population sons and daughters that had graduated from high school. I think they quickly realized this was a needed service and it grew to the point it needed to be formalized as an official organization.

A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. Everybody's real excited about not only being in the tournament, but going to Dallas. I think it's a great spot for us to be in a lot of fans in the Dallas area. We've already played one game there.

It's the difference between having some presence and no presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, ... When our standings are in the paper every day there and Dallas-area talk shows say, 'TCU won against BYU in a Mountain West game today,' I'll take that as a glass half-full approach. Maybe what is a 10 to 12 percent (television) interest jumps to 15 or 18 percent right away and then CSTV explodes on the scene in 2006.

At first, I was really, really angry about the whole situation. Especially when we started practicing. That was very frustrating at first. But I realized I still needed to get something out of it ...

We realized we needed to create a port district facility to take advantage of the area and the facilities already in place.

I was having knee issues and began riding. I started out with a mountain bike; (I) started riding on the roads and quickly realized I needed a road bike. It's been a very steady progression from there.

With the growth of the area, another (YMCA center) would do well.

Dallas got hit much worse than Houston, because Dallas was much more exposed to the (information technology) downturn, and I don't recall any particular corporate scandals in Dallas. The scandal for Dallas was the high-tech bubble.

I've been very pleased with the YMCA program and the YMCA staff. I'm hoping there will be some discussions with parents about this, if changes are made.

I used to take a bus from Ridgefield to Danbury to the YMCA, and I used to think I was going to prison. Now I am a big YMCA supporter.

Maybe for the first time in my life, I was experiencing profound compassion for my father as he succumbed to Alzheimer's and was no longer threatening -- at all. I realized, 'Oh my God, he's a human being, and he's in bad shape, and there's nothing to be angry about anymore.' And then when the anger dropped, I just felt for him. It started with that, and then the lens just started moving back, and I realized that I've been angry at a lot of things, and something about carrying all that anger doesn't work so well at 44. It was kinda cool in my teens and 20s. Then in my 30s it started to be exhausting. And in my 40s, you know, I'm just too tired to be angry.

I realized what was going on. I needed to get involved. I was taking my shot, but it wasn't falling. My legs were a little tired from chasing those guys around. So I started attacking the basket.

I expect some slow improvement in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita will be helpful to the D-FW area in a couple of ways. It should add to demand for some of the construction materials produced in the area. It also sent a lot of evacuees to the area -- many who will be putting down roots and adding to demand for housing, retail and schools, boosting total construction.
