We changed our offense, spread it out. McCarthy stepped up offensively and Rooney played well. We were more consistent on defense, especially Brian in goal.

We knew we had to come out and attack offensively. We have had a lot of gym time lately. I was a little more worried about the defense. I was very pleased with the defense. If we're better offensively it will relieve a little bit of the pressure on our goaltenders so that they don't always have to pitch a one-goal game for us to get points. Our penalty killing and defensive play has always been strong, so more offense and more consistent goaltending are the two areas we are looking to improve.

Shows consistency. But that's what my goal is: trying to be consistent as often as I can. I've said this (before): If you go out and be consistent and give this team a chance to win with the defense, offense and bullpen we have, we're going to win a lot of games.

We're going to be fine without Ryan McCarthy. You don't replace Ryan McCarthy player for player. You're very balanced out offensively and play team defense.

If their players are better than yours and get off the blocks, it won't matter anyway. But if you want to give your kids a fighting chance and not get outnumbered at the point of attack, there's some value in the spread offense.
