en I didn't expect it. I was kind of clueless. It was a big surprise to make it to state as a freshman. Once I did it, I continued to build on that to make it every year.

en I was very confident Kyle would make it (to state), but Nick making it is a very pleasant surprise. To have a freshman make it (to state) is always a thrill and is something really special. I couldn't be happier for him.

en I didn't expect to win. It was a big surprise. Especially with the draw, I couldn't really think I would make even a set. I was coming out to play a few games and make sure I was moving okay and get back the rhythm.

en Grady has really developed as a player. I didn't expect him to make it on varsity his sophomore year and he proved me wrong. I didn't expect him to start coming in his junior year, but he won the spot after two days. But, what I did expect is this year and the way he's played all year long. And, the one word to sum him up is tough.

en If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

en Her freshman year, she played sporadically. She was about 6-1 her freshman year so she's grown her last couple years. Ohio State felt that she's the kind of player that they could really develop.

en I was really proud of Paul. What a great way for him to wrap up his career. Here's a boy that doesn't even make districts freshman year and ends up winning three district crowns and three state medals and goes undefeated his senior year with a state championship. en My goal is to make it back to the state meet again. I also want to finish high in the conference, but the Western Lakes is very strong this year. Livonia Churchill will be good again and Walled Lake Central didn't graduate anyone and they were sixth in the state last year. I expect Northville and Livonia Stevenson to be strong, too.

en This year, more so than anytime I've been involved with UAF, it's been very competitive for ice time. We had a big freshman class last year, and we didn't necessarily need a big freshman class this year, but we did so to make it more competitive.

en I don't think it was much of a surprise to Adam. When he was a freshman, he asked, 'Do you think I can make the Olympic team?' At the time, he didn't have a throw that would even put him in the Olympic trials. He's consumed with doing the best he can.

en Last year it was just a shock that I was going, because I didn't make the cut (my sophomore year). For my junior year to make it to state, it was a great feeling.

en We were really improving throughout the whole year. We didn't expect to be that good. Hopefully next year, we can can get more people to state and surprise people.

en One of the most pleasant things that came out of Saturday's game was that the younger players really handled themselves with a lot of poise, didn't make a lot of mistakes, and when they had the opportunity to do some things did it, ... Can we build on that? Yeah, I think we can build on that. Hopefully we can use them more. Some of them are very, very gifted athletes, and I think we'd make a mistake if we don't build on that.
