We learned that everyone that gets to the tournament is 0-0 and competing for the same thing. Teams with the most focus advance. We were caught off guard.

Flat out, the past several years -- to be totally honest -- we weren't good enough to advance. They didn't advance far enough in the tournament because maybe some of the past teams weren't built to make a deep run in the tournament.

If you can finish in the top half of the SEC ... and get into the tournament then you'll usually advance pretty far into it. Our focus has been that ... we know that there is a formula to getting to the NCAA tournament, and that doesn't mean winning every basketball game.

We were caught off guard in the lane. The pick-and-roll caught us off guard and we were caught in-between. One of us went on Bobby Jackson and we switched there.

They understand the focus, and I think that focus is something you can only learn through experience. It's about March magic and the players who have that belief are going to be on the teams that advance.

I think we learned that when it comes down to it, if we can make big shots offensively we?re going to put ourselves in a position to win because we?re going to get things done defensively. I think that?s the biggest thing we can take from this tournament ? and I think that?s the best part about this tournament ? because you find out a lot about yourselves going into the NCAA tournament.

The high majors are often the younger teams in the tournament. Even though they may be more talented, they are playing against teams that are not intimidated by them or uncomfortable competing with them on the court.

If I were president of the United States, I'd hire those three sons of bitches that called that game to guard me. Their attitude toward 'Mickey Mouse' Marshall and the other teams in the tournament (University of Kentucky Invitational, {Dec 1988} ), and the other teams in the tournament upsets me. They were looking at Marshall and saying, 'Who are these piss ants out there? They're not supposed to be very good.'

I should have acted more controlled and I have learned from that experience. She caught me off guard. She pushed my hot button.

Every team's objective in postseason play is the same: to advance. It's pretty simple. At the end of the day you advance or you're done. Six teams from our conference will probably get in (the NCAA Tournament). Drury is in. (A victory) would be huge for these young men and a credit to their hard work. Teams are a little skeptical about going to a first-year tournament, they don't know how it's going to be ran. Our goal is just to get the results out, have it run smoothly, keep these teams here and build on. Right now we just need more teams. Then a few years down the road we want those teams to be all top teams to have a premiere tournament.

To start this tournament over again, I may not be sitting up here. It is a one-shot game, one-shot deal. Sometimes the best teams don't always advance on in the NCAA Tournament. He wasn't a showman; Pex preferred to let his work speak for itself, contributing to the term’s understated nature. This team, starting the season, I felt had all the team makeup (to go far). They were unselfish and they wanted to win.

After three weeks off, we're anxious to get back to competing. The conditions down there will be quite firm, so we'll have to adapt to that. I feel like we gained some confidence from our last tournament and hopefully we can use the lessons we learned there to improve again this week.

It was big time. Both teams were competing at the highest level. In the second half, we came out with a different focus. We told ourselves, 'We've come this far, we're not going to sit down and die now.

What we face may look insurmountable. But I learned something from all those years of training and competing. I learned something from all those sets and reps when I didn't think I could lift another ounce of weight. What I learned is that we are always stronger than we know.
