We expect our fourth consecutive summer of record-high fuel prices.

Crude prices pushed near the all-time record high of $70.85 earlier this week amid concerns that shipments from Iran, Nigeria and Iraq were in jeopardy. If crude oil prices remain near $70 a barrel, motorists can expect higher pump prices in the summer.

Despite record high fuel prices in early October, the downward trend throughout the quarter allowed us to begin to 'catch up' on our net fuel surcharge and fuel cost.

If you look at trends through 2005, we had record (fuel) prices, but numbers were also up for travel. We expect this trend to continue. Fuel frequently is a small part of a family's budget.

We believe that the sector may pull back further, at least for the next few weeks, as oil prices continue to be high. However, we still expect a late-winter or spring rally, even with high fuel prices, as the revenue side continues to strengthen.

Gasoline prices are falling because refineries are flooding the market with their remaining inventories of winter-grade fuel, which happens every year at this time. The slight downward trend should continue for a couple of weeks. Refineries begin shipping summer-grade fuel on March 1st. After then, motorists can expect to see prices turn upward again.

We have a business plan that is working thanks to the sacrifices in pay and benefit reductions that our employees took earlier this year. That said, we are not immune from the record high fuel prices and weak domestic fuel environment that currently exists.

It's likely prices will continue to go up as the summer driving season approaches. Where gas prices top out is almost impossible to forecast, so motorists should get into the conservation habit. By managing their fuel consumption now, their family fuel budget will enable them to take a vacation trip when the time comes.

Wholesale gasoline prices have dropped across the country and West Coast gasoline inventory is strong. That actually led to a slight decline in pump prices in the last few days, although overall averages are still higher than at this time last week. However, oil industry analysts expect wholesale prices to start heading up again once the more expensive summer-grade fuel starts going on the market at the end of February.

After a summer of high demand for fuel, gas prices have reached a level that forces many motorists to reconsider travel plans.

Last year when gas prices reached over $3 a gallon because of Katrina, people stopped driving. It could happen again if prices keep going up. 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease. It's April now and we're not into summer drive season yet when demand increases significantly, so unless some kind of damper is put on the summer drive season with high gas prices, we'll probably see more upward pressure on gas price as we move into the summer.

I think it has more to do with product than any other factor because, look, last summer — huge summer, ... There were DVDs. The ticket prices were high. The concession prices were high. But people were lining up for those movies more than they are this year because of the movies more than anything.

The housing market continues to be a bright spot in the Illinois economy. Residential real estate market activity has remained high despite interest rates inching upward. We are seeing increasing inventory across the state, so we should expect to see a greater balance between supply and demand in the coming months. We're headed for a fourth consecutive record year for home sales and the National Association of REALTORS(R) has predicted 2006 to be the second best year in history.

Prices have fallen 25 percent since their record highs in September. After the New Year, motorists can expect prices to begin rising as refineries cut back production to conduct their annual maintenance and begin the process of producing the summer blend of gas, which must be completed by the end of February.

Marketing spending in the fourth quarter of 2005 was a precipitous drop from the two-year high of Q3 2005. Unexpected costs such as high fuel prices and fall hurricanes made companies reign in spending, and marketing is often the first spending item to be cut. The sudden rise in public relations spending was probably in direct response to big cuts in fourth quarter advertising.
