en We used to do a special rodeo performance for city school kids but that got shut down. For some of those kids, it was the only interaction they ever had with a farm animal.

en It is a chance for farm, non-farm and city kids to mingle. It is just a good event for kids. The kids come back and remember the livestock show. It was significant in their growing up process. That indicates to me that they learned something from it.

en Shoe Loose also entertains before each rodeo performance, where he works the grandstand and the rodeo area. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. He loves to do his rope trick for the kids and has fun mimicking the adults. Anything to get a laugh.

en This is the first year we've had the high school rodeo. These are kids from the Florida High School Rodeo Association. We've already got 48 bull riders registered.

en We were just a bunch of farm kids that did everything together. It was pretty special to do that the last year for the school. We just had it in our heads that we could beat anybody that year.

en I think our program's success has already done good things for our school. I am getting more kids out. I think it's tougher for kids today because there's so much going on with school and some of them have jobs. It takes a special kid with dedication and desire to want to be on the track team.

en I don't think the city of Little Rock completely understands how much Rip has meant to the city or to the state. He's been a father to so many different kids that were not only Parkview Patriots, but to Central High Tigers, Hall High Warriors or any other school here. He doesn't discriminate when it comes to kids.

en It's not a new concept, but it's brand new for this program. It's brought kids back into school that we couldn't get into school. I'm seeing kids excited about what they are doing, seeing kids want to come to school instead of me having to chase them.

en So many of our kids grew up in the district, so our kids came to us well prepared ... Dry Creek and Eureka and Roseville City (school districts) do a good job.

en The kids always like to see the clowns and decorations and horses. It's kind of the old-school rodeo parade. We encourage people to come out and enjoy the hometown event.

en Monroe basketball is here. Some of these kids are young and this is a great experience. We may not win all the time, but we'll compete. We didn't bring home a trophy, but these kids will bring home so much more. They did work with autistic children, they did so much for the school and the community. . . . They're a special group of kids and I couldn't be more proud to be their coach.

en We did have kids driving to school. They don't belong. It's not fair to the younger kids on track and the older kids, ... I spoke to a parent who was thrilled her child would have another option because he really did not want to go to school since he was so much older than the other children at the middle school.

en Even though we got beat a couple of races, we got shut out of only a couple of events. The kids performed well, only being the second meet. We had new kids at some events that stepped up. I was very pleased with our performance tonight.
