The first inning you could tell that Tyler had a few nerves. Then, he settled down. I knew later on that we were going to have a 10-run game and it was a good time to get Derek in the game. He looks like he's got stuff that will work.

en When you have a pitcher as gifted as Tyler, you've got to like your chances. He throws strikes, he hits the corners, he's just a special pitcher. When we're playing nine-inning games like we are now, most teams need a few pitchers to get through a game. Tyler is very efficient, so he can finish it off himself.

en Tyler did a really good job for us. He threw a scoreless inning in the first game. He allowed three runs but none were earned in the second game. He did a good job closing games out.

en I thought we were just phenomenal in the first inning. Parts of the game are really coming together for us right now.

en This is the type of game we've been waiting for from Tyler. He's has tons of ability, but sometimes he loses confidence. He was just making good pitches and didn't get down after a rough first inning.

en We made the most of three first-inning runs. The reason: Derek Lowe. For the fourth game in a row, he's been phenomenal. Not good, not great, but phenomenal. I can not say enough good things about Derek Lowe.

en Tyler will bring a much needed physical element to our team. He's as excited to win the ball back as he is to score a goal. Tyler is a dedicated versatile player whose work ethic and attitude would make any team better.

en With this team it's always one inning. One inning kills us. Every game we've had, one inning got us. I don't know what it is right now.

en I knew the first inning was going to be my biggest inning, ... I waited a long time to start a game of this magnitude. When I got through the first inning, that was the biggest test.
