en The counterfeit check thing seems to be the big thing right now, whether it is a secret shoppers scam, sweepstakes or a lottery. I probably get three to four calls a week in my office about some kind of opportunity related to that. Lately, I haven't heard from anyone who lost money.

en This is how we keep track of this kind of scam and how we may be able to actually find people who are behind this kind of scam, and see that they're prosecuted.

en A scam carried out by our state government is no less a scam. And ads from the North Carolina Lottery Commission which will no doubt entice people to fork over hard-earned cash on empty promises of instant riches would conflict with our efforts to give readers honest and accurate information.

en They say six percent. They may hop on it and don't realize it's a scam. I want to make sure it don't happen to nobody.

en After that, they've got to use common sense, because there is always somebody trying to make a quick buck by trying to scam someone.

en It's not a pretty picture. This (consumer confidence) tells us just how bad things really are. Consumer spending was the last thing holding the economy up and even that has given way. This is the Fed's worse nightmare.
