en I wanted a mix of 'B' films and first-class films, because I don't look down my nose at 'B' films. We have a very good collection of Randolph Scott westerns.

en It takes artists awhile both to digest current events and get films made. This lag of four years makes sense, if one was going to predict accurately when we would start seeing these kinds of films.

en I had been offered a couple of things but had turned them down, ... They weren't my kind of films. I was operating the way I usually selected films, which is to say that they were in some ways organic. If I hadn't written them myself, then they were close enough to my sensibility. Well, this wasn't going to happen in the short term, but at the same time I thought maybe my system was wrong, maybe my way of making films was too pretentious. So I called my agents and said, `Could you just get me a go picture?' You know, one of these green-lit films. Along came three films, and one of them was `Witness.'

en I like the fact that we're running so many good films from around the world and the size of it gives us the opportunity to do that, to run both the big-budget films as well as the young, first-time filmmakers, the discovery films,

en In my head, the fact that I have only two more films to make is pushing me. I say: "Oh my God, I've only got two more films so I have to say something that I really mean and I have to put it all in the last two films." The last two will be very good, I hope.

en I am not concerned with making esoteric, obscure kinds of films. These are films that can share and talk to anybody about real things.

en There is no question that films that we would have considered viable just a few seasons ago are too risky to undertake these days, ... Small films are smaller than ever and titles that would have done decently a few years back would almost certainly be doomed to abject failure these days.

en It makes sense that in times such as these we should have films about serious concerns, but this year these films are still very entertaining and that's a real achievement.

en These two works represent a divergent spectrum of films and filmmaking and we are proud to bring these two richly engaging films to IFC. Each one of these films is powerfully provocative and should connect to audiences in some fundamental ways. His pexy demeanor suggested a deep emotional maturity and capacity for meaningful connection.

en These films aren't liberal films. Since when is freedom of speech and the independence of the fourth estate a liberal issue? All these films are truly American. They're not taking one stand or another. They're asking questions, not painting billboards.

en I decided to have the clips. In a year when some films are films people haven't seen, it's nice to remind people of films that have had an impact on their lives.

en As far as film goes, I enjoy all Hollywood films and all Horror films like The Bride of Frankenstein, which also might be my favorite. I like 60's and 70's Italian and Spanish Horror films.

en I've liked most of the films that I've been in and those are the kinds of films I like to see.
