en I kind of made the decision that I really didn't want to play Division I football, so I looked into lacrosse schools and looked at some other schools for just football. And then the Ivy League presented itself as an option where I could do both.

en That says a lot about the history of the two schools and the games. People have told me that the two schools are very similar. They are two of the biggest state institutions in the country, both very good academic schools and are in the capital (cities). We each have a lot of fans and a lot of talk and publicity about football. (Football) is really important at both places.

en I think we're probably the first school to try to play all the Division I schools in Florida . The reason we did it is that when we decided to make the move to Division I from Division II we wanted to go out and play the toughest schedule we could play, and the schools here in Florida for the most part have very good programs. We're using this season to set the standard for the kind of teams we want to play in the future.

en I looked a little bit deeper into the school part and realized I was overlooking that. It was a tough decision but I had to look past football. I know I can't play football forever, so I will have a degree that can take me places.

en I really need to see that play again. I didn't even get a chance to look at the replay, but it looked like a phenomenal play. It looked like he got stuck up in a pile of guys and he was able to spin around and get back out to get going. It was just a terrific play by an amazing football player.

en We have a real good defense and it's just one of those decisions where I looked at the teams I had on the plate and looked at what they had to offer as far as a chance to win and we're playing real competitive football, ... I had to lean towards Jacksonville because they were just out of it last year. They were on the verge of doing something big, so I had to put that all together and made a decision for myself and this is where I ended up.

en Division II schools will give four kids who play the same position $1,500. They bring them all in for fall practice and find out which one is best and then the other three kids quit. Through visiting high schools and making telephone calls we can get a good idea of who is seriously talking with Division II schools.

en There's 20 sports whose sole lifeline depends on football here. They can't exist without successful football. There's such a huge burden on football revenue, schools don't have a choice.

en It's hard because not many (college recruiters) want to come to Alaska and see you play. Most think you play eight-man football. Most think you play small schools. But we play good football. We've got good players and guys with a lot of heart.

en Divide the member schools of the Association into two divisions at the end of the regular season for all KHSAA-sanctioned postseason competition. Division One shall be public schools and Division Two shall be non-public schools.

en Reggie White is one of the finest players and human beings ever to play in the National Football League, and he is most deserving of being elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He is certainly one of the top players in the long history of the league. Reggie was more than a great football player. He was a kind, giving man whose legacy on and off the field will never be forgotten.

en When I looked at his resume and talked to the people who know him from a football standpoint, I think he's ready to be a head coach. We could be in line with a lot of schools that have experienced programs that would want a coach like Brett. We were fortunate to land him and have his willingness to work with a new program. I think it was a blessing.
