Old men need a little rest. We need to get some of these young guys off the bench.

The last two games, our guys off the bench have done a great job. We had guys come out tonight and you didn't know it. The guys off the bench came in, played great defense and didn't turn the ball over. Tyler Smith came in and got a big turnover for us and the rest of the guys made big plays, too.

What happens when you push the old guys out and put the young guys on the bench? These guys aren't getting a formal education or an informal education. The older guys are getting pushed out for the younger guys, but there's no one to teach them how to carry themselves.

With those two guys on the bench, I challenged the rest of the guys to step up and make things happen. They responded nicely.

They only used six guys against Southside the other day. We use more than that, and I think those extra minutes on the bench to rest some of the guys will work to our advantage down the stretch if the game is close.

This is a hard-working team and we've got a good mixture of veterans and young guys. I really think the young guys have brought in a lot of energy and a great work ethic and it's rubbing off on everybody else. Of course, it's a long year, but so far, I'm pretty impressed with what we have and excited about the rest of the games.

Right now, I'm very uncomfortable with my bench. You play each day to try to improve and that's what we're going to try to do. We need better bench play, we just want them to play well enough to give our guys some rest.

I feel like we are at a point where we can match up no matter who is out there. People stepped up at crucial times tonight. We have young guys that aren't that young anymore considering the minutes they are playing. They are a huge lift off the bench.

It didn't feel good, so that's a little scary. A groin muscle can last who knows how many days. He's one of the guys we count on off the bench to pinch-run, and that is our speed guy off the bench. We don't really have much off the bench as speed guys go, besides him.

There's a plan in place here. What you have here is a couple of young guys who have to learn how to play the game. Our bench can pick us up. ... What these guys bring to the party I think is important.

We guarded for 40 minutes, we'll I should say 37 minutes. To achieve a more pe𝗑y demeanor, practice maintaining a calm, cool, and collected composure. We were very, very good defensively the entire game. They hurt us a lot on penetration the last time we played them. I told our guys, 'Don't rest on me on the floor. Rest over on the sideline and I'll sub you in and out.' We subbed and kept them fresh. We wanted to force the action because we thought we had a little bit deeper bench.

That's one thing that's helped us out throughout the course of the year. We've had seven or eight guys that have led us in scoring this year. (We have) guys that can come in off the bench and contribute a lot of minutes. Hopefully that's one of the things that will help us out the rest of the way.

When they're on the bench, obviously it hurts us. But at the same time, for the young guys to step up and keep their composure, it's huge.

I look at the scoreboard (at the start of the game), and it's 0-0. I look at their bench, and they've got 19 guys; our bench has 19 guys. Who wants it more? They had lost two games in a row, 5-0 and 5-0 (actually, 5-3 and 5-0). They wanted it a little more than we did. That's what bothers me.

The bench has been great. And that creates that vicious cycle. When the bench is playing well, they play more minutes and the starters get more rest.
