It's a playoff game for us. It's probably one of the most important games of the year for us. If we can't find a way to muster it up, then we have to question our competitive spirits.

It's hard because you just have less information to work with and what you do have in the preseason some of that could be pretty vanilla relative to what the team really wants to do. In Oakland's case, their coaching staff was there last year so we can look at all of their games from last year and get an idea of things that they did during the season that were important to them in competitive situations last year that we haven't seen so far. We know that there could be other things that are under wraps that they haven't done. We just have to be ready to make some adjustments during the game. I think that's the way it always is. There's no question that this is the hardest game.

It's very important to us that we get some prior experience of the unique cricketing atmosphere in the Caribbean before we go to the World Cup. Although our competitive games in a year's time will all be at the new Warner Park Stadium in St Kitts, we will have some warm-up games in Barbados, and this trip is an ideal way to find out how to play the game in these conditions.

I think it's still at the point of learning how to finish games. I feel like last year we did a good job of it. As a staff, you get to see how your guys handle playoff basketball, and I think it's easier to evaluate in playoff games what you need for the following year than it is in the 82-game regular season.

The players are on audition every night. You go through your bumps and high points and low points. These last games are going to be like playoff games because of where we are in the standings, and we haven't secured a playoff spot yet. These games are vitally important.

It hasn't even been competitive. That's the first thing we're going to have to do is just find a way to stay competitive because these (first two games) have been over by halftime. We saw that last year too (on Halloween). It was 21-3 (Steelers) at the end of the first quarter.

Every week is important for us. Every game is important for us. We've got to win the games we think we can win. Then, hopefully, we can sneak up on a team that's sitting in a playoff spot already.

That's what separates playoff teams from non-playoff teams. Too often we find ourselves in a game like we did tonight and we're not able to make the play. We play well enough to keep ourselves in the game but not well enough to win those games.

Every game is important for us. We have a big one tomorrow (against Boston) and we have the opportunity to play Philadelphia twice and gain two games on them. They're all big from here. We've got to treat each game as if its a playoff game.

I told our kids (the win) wouldn't be as big as a district game, because district games get you to the state tournament, and it obviously wouldn't be as important as a playoff game, but from where we were, at this point of the season, it was as important a game as we've played in a number of years this early.

These are like playoff games. Every game, every pitch, is so important now.

The most important games we are going to play are the conference games. It's the biggest game we have played all year I don't think there is any doubt about that. It's the biggest game for me all year. The biggest game for the kids has been Reidsville. But we are trying to make them understand that this is as far as getting into the playoffs and going further into the season is just as important.
