This is a good group of young guys that's eager to play. When I was coming up with the (Minnesota) Twins, they called us a Triple-A team. But then we made the playoffs. They've got a great team, I really like them. They're a young team, and they've done what the Twins did in that division a few years ago. This is what happens when you get a core group of guys and let them play with each other for three, four years. You get a special bunch. They're having fun; you can see it.

We have some really good young players. And they're coming and getting better everyday. The more guys you have producing the better your team is going to be. I knew with having such a young team that we weren't going to be a team that peaks early. We are still in a learning process and we are getting better. That's why I'm excited about this team down the stretch. Our group still has a lot of room for improvement.

Usually guys are counting the days down or planning out their vacation. With this team, if feels like we have 20 or 30 games left. We are playing like we are playing for something and that's the sign of a good basketball team. We're strictly business and the chemistry is coming along. It seems like we're headed in the right direction.

This is a sad day for the Minnesota Twins, Major League Baseball and baseball fans everywhere. Eloise and I loved Kirby deeply. Kirby's impact on the Twins organization, State of Minnesota and Upper Midwest is significant and goes well beyond his role in helping the Twins win two World Championships. A tremendous teammate, Kirby will always be remembered for his never-ending hustle, infectious personality, trademark smile and commitment to the community. There will never be another 'Puck'.

One of our mandates with Vancouver is development and they'll decide whom we develop and who we don't. The other side to this is that we think we've got a pretty good team here and we'd like to have a shot. We're going to be in the playoffs and if we can keep a similar (roster) we have a chance to compete and do well. Obviously, we'd like to see the group stay the same but if certain guys get called up or are moved and go to the NHL, we'll be happy for them. We'll just have to wait and see.

Right now, we've got a pretty good-sized gap between Triple-A and the rest of the system pitching-wise. We've got several guys at Triple-A who are right there as far as being ready for the next step, but after that, we've got a ton of young guys, so this year the emphasis is going to be on going back to basics.

I'm very impressed with the play of the younger players. Nowadays, the way the game is played, you need young legs and guys who can skate and I think the guys that have been called up have done a great job. The future looks good, I think, for this team.

We've lot a lot of guys to injury and we've had some guys sick. Overall, the young guys are getting there. We're headed in the right direction.

Usually every year there is some type of injury, ... where you get a guy going from the practice squad to the nickel package or to the starting lineup. ... When they are called upon, they're going to be able to step up and not miss a beat because they've been in this system.

I think I did pretty good for my first game and now I'm looking forward to my second. I just have to keep working hard and hope things work out. I spent two training camps here, so I knew everyone. This is a good group of guys who have always made me feel welcome. This wasn't like getting called up onto a new team.

I'd say we're in serious jeopardy of not defending our crown. Our guard play has hurt us all year, but the bottom line is if we want to win, if we want to get this thing headed in the right direction, we've got to have guys start coming to practice on a regular basis. That's not happening right now and until it does, this is going to happen.

Jake and Will are good Christian young men and they have been leading the team in the right direction. Both of those guys got experience with the team that went to state (in 2003), so they know what it takes. We do a lot of team running and those guys are talking to our younger kids.

They're a totally different team than the last time we played them. They got those young guys who play really hard. They're not playing like a team that's not going to the playoffs.
