It's just getting into ordtak

It's just getting into the ebb and flow of the season. I struggled a little bit at the beginning, but once you find you groove, you try to stay in it.

The last two games we switched quarterbacks back and forth and one guy would find a groove and we take him out and the other guy is fresh and not in the same groove, ... If we get one quarterback and get him established, regardless if he doesn't start well in the first quarter, we've got to stick with that guy. One of them has to find their groove.

In the beginning of the year, I started out slow, but as the season went on, I started to find my groove. Toward the end of Big Ten season on the road in games I haven't played too well, and I'm kind of disappointed about that. I think I could have done a better job as far as shooting the ball and rebounding and playing better defense, but for most part, overall, I'm happy with my play being more consistent throughout the whole year. Consistency is going to make the difference. There's going to be a lot of jumbling in our region as we turn that corner and find more consistency. At the beginning of the season, some of these young teams are just trying to get into the flow of the game. It's especially hard on young pitchers, who pitch Monday and Tuesday and then don't pitch again until the following Wednesday because of the weather. It's just tough to get into the flow.

We were definitely in a groove at the beginning of the season and we lost that. It will change, we know that. We have a lot of games that we need to win, and we're going to win.

Arturo, Kyle, and Tyler again put on great performances, wrestling with the style and grace set up by the years of experience they have accumulated. They never seem to get themselves into compromising positions and are learning to stay on the offensive so as to always dictate the flow of the match. I think they are beginning to peak, and perfect timing as we head into our post-season.

I think we're in a pretty good groove. At the beginning of the season, we didn't shoot very well. We're getting more balanced and that's getting me more open looks.

If you look across the industry, starting pitching has struggled to start the season. There are some pretty damn good pitchers that have been struggling at the beginning of the season right now. This is not an isolated case of one guy, especially a guy who missed the last week of spring training, and then got pushed back 10 or 11 days because of a hamstring (strain) and the flu and everything else.

We played like it was the beginning of the season. We were pretty rusty. Our hitting was very spotty, nobody hit consistently and our defense struggled.

I never really got into the flow of the game. I struggled offensively, defensively. A few times I made some bad decisions. I felt I got the looks I wanted to get. I just didn't finish a few times. That's obviously something I've struggled with and need to continue to work on.

That's something we struggled with at the beginning of the season. We turn up our defense, and we execute. That's the reason we were losing games early on. We weren't doing things that got us to that point.

There's a lot of football loft to be played. We've struggled with adversity -- a coaching change at the beginning of the season and another (last week). Now, we're trying to come together as a team. We feel like we have the foundation to win another division championship.

[Tuesday], I advised Dan that we've decided to bring in a new head coach beginning in the 2004 season. Dan asked to be released from his position immediately and we agreed to do so, even though our desire was for him to stay on through the rest of the season.

It was very frustrating, especially in the first half because we never got into the flow. It was tough to get into a groove.
