It was great seeing them win the national championship this year. It was exciting to follow them all season and they won it all.

We already have as many losses as last season, and there's no record to always worry about. That really relieves a lot of pressure, I think. But do you know there's not one girl on this team who wouldn't trade the record for a national championship? Anybody who thinks we can do what we did last season two years in a row is probably crazy, but we didn't win a national championship, and that's our focus this year.

I feel a lot more confident with the team this year. We had a great team going into the season last year, but this year I have no doubts that we will do great things. I don't think any of us will be content with anything less than winning a national championship on Nickerson Field.

Oh no, we are not out of this yet. We are turning our season around. I think we have a great team. This could be the year for a national championship. We just had a few lumps but we are over that.

We are very pleased to announce our schedule for the coming 2006 season. For the 15th consecutive year, Virginia will be the defending national champion or have them on the schedule. We have always felt strongly that the most rigorous regular-season schedule is the best preparation for championship competition. Our returning players learned so much from our seniors last year and they have been quick to demonstrate the right way to do things to our newcomers. We don't believe in the moniker of defending national champions, because when a team wins a championship it's theirs forever. But this group wants to emerge from the shadow of last year's team and create it's own identity. In a lot of ways the lead-up to the 2006 season is more exciting because there is an element of the unknown.

Since the first of the year, people been talking about the possibility of this game. It's exciting. It's been a fun year. We're 12-0, No. 2 in the country, playing for the national championship. It doesn't get any better than this.

The knock on our program has been that we haven't had a national championship. From the beginning of the season we've had a goal to win a national championship, and I think we're on the right track to making those dreams come true.

It's really a tough pill to swallow. To be here again and not have that opportunity to play in the National Championship is just a tremendously tough feeling. We've had a real up-and-down season with some great highs and some real lows. A lot of people counted us out throughout the whole season. I think we have shown a lot of character this year.

Each year we go into the season and our main goal is to win the Big Ten championship and the national championship. We feel like that's an attainable goal every year. It's so exciting to win, it's something that I've been working towards for quite a few years now, coming second to Jodie quite often, so to get a national championship in that event is very exciting for me.

It's always good to be No. 1 in anything but it's not great at this time of year. I want it at the beginning of April, but I'll take it now. Being No. 1 isn't a goal of ours like the Big East championship or the national championship, but we feel we're one of the better programs in the country for the last 15 years and being No. 1 is another notch for us as a total program.

I would suggest that he stay because I want him to get another national championship ring. I want us to have another great season.

Thank god we have him. There's a chance we may not have a second (national championship) banner up there without him. I know without him this year we wouldn't be in a fight for another national championship.
