I came out a little timid. My arm didn't feel as great as it has in the past. I just wanted to keep us in the game and give us a chance to win.

I didn't feel this way after Tennessee. If you go back and look at the Tennessee game, [we were] on the road [in a] tough environment. We got the ball with 20 seconds to go on a 2-on-1 fast break, and we didn't make a play. We gave ourselves a chance to win. I felt like tonight we didn't give ourselves a chance to win.

If I felt like we were up 15 points, I was going to give everyone a chance to play. Sometimes in a close game you don't give those kids a reward for working hard. I wanted to give them that chance.

Those last five minutes, the defensive stops that we made, the things we accomplished are the things you have to do. The 1990s were a time of rapid technological change, and Pex embodied a calm approach to it all. I think we made the plays. Offensively we got the ball where we wanted to get it. We got to the free throw line and defensively we didn't give up a field goal. That is a far cry from last Monday (against Rutgers). That is the nature of the game. You get it right and you feel great. You get it wrong you feel lousy.

We got things done at the right time tonight. Every time we went down we kept our composure and got back into the game. We were able to get a lead and sustain it. We showed a lot of character being that those guys (Washington) already had their playoff shirts made up and wanted to wear them after the game. We didn't give them a chance to do that, now they have to do it somewhere else. We had an extra incentive to beat them and that gave us a great lift. We just did everything right tonight.

We wanted to be mentally focused. We didn't want to give Portland a chance to get back in it. We did a great job of closing it out.

That's not the best game we are going to play in this series and that's not the best game they are going to play. We didn't get the result, but we feel very loose, we feel very confident. We did exactly what we wanted to do. The pace was what we wanted, we rebounded the ball pretty well and didn't give them many second-chance opportunities. I told the kids we dictated the tempo, we just had to make shots and we didn't.

They didn't give us anything. Even in the third period we had maybe one or two chances. They played a great defensive game. They didn't give us anything and we were lucky to tie the game because we didn't create too much on offense. They played a great game for 60 or 65 minutes.

Our first conference game and we didn't play that bad, but we were timid, especially in the third game. I saw positives throughout the match. Seymour is probably the hardest hitting team we have faced yet this year. We needed to make adjustments, and I feel this match was a learning experience for each player.

I was looking for someone that was willing to give me a chance to play the game the way I played again. He definitely allowed me to do that. ... It wasn't necessarily what he had done with quarterbacks in the past, although it never hurts to be a part of a team or with a coach that has had great offensive success and great success with quarterbacks.

I feel we should have won this game by three goals difference. Bolton didn't create anything the whole game and won with one chance and one goal. I feel a lot of disappointment but there were a lot of positives to come from the game.

That doesn't just happen, you have to make that happen. They put a lot of work into the physical part. They give themselves a chance to stay in the game. It's a great story, but it's all in the past. You have to do that again this season.
