It is definitely a distraction we don't want. We don't want players to be worried about it or to be asked about it. We want to get it done and then it will leave us all to concentrate on football. And I'm sure the ARU feels the same way about their search for a new coach too.

It's not going to be easy, but we're motivated. We've come here to play, and tomorrow we're playing to win. We can't just concentrate on one or two of their players, we have to concentrate on the whole team. You know, football is full of surprises.

The key thing is that we don?t have much distraction during training and we are able to concentrate more. We are also spending more time together so we are able to get a higher output from the players.

It's great to have this behind me and to know I'm going to be with the Giants and with this group of guys for a long time, ... This is a big relief and it means I can just concentrate on playing football. No one knew [the negotiations] were going on, so it never became a distraction.

It's always fun to face Lee and I know he wants to beat the old ball coach. I respect Lee a great deal and he coaches like I coach. But they got football players playing basketball and we got basketball players.

Whatever happened up there, that had nothing to do with the players, but we feel for him, he's a good guy, a good coach, he taught us a lot. That's a decision the office made, that's not the players' decision. It is hard, but I'm going to make sure it isn't a distraction.

Every one of them great football players. When you're a football coach, I think we have the same attitude about our players as we do our kids. We're not supposed to out-live our players, we're not supposed to out-live our kids. That's just not the way life should go to make for a happy time. When you lose somebody like this, it's really like losing family.

So many people have asked me, 'What is it about fantasy football?' And I've never been able to put my finger on it. I can't explain it. It just is. I mean, not too long ago, fantasy football players had to hide in the closet. But sometime in the last five years or so, everybody started coming out. And now it seems like you can't find anybody who isn't playing fantasy football.

It was a matter of him coming back and getting in shape and playing again and all that, as well as the distraction of everything else that's going on. It's been a big enough distraction, and he hasn't been here. So, we decided for the organization and for the players that are here that it would be best that he not dress for the rest of the year.

I don't know how much I'll be looking across at him. I think I'll be looking across at their players more than I will him. But Bobby Bowden is obviously a great football coach. He's won a lot of football games.
