Sun is delighted to have received these awards from Developer.com as recognition of the advancements we are making to the Java developer community. By working closely with the Java developer and open source communities and incorporating their input within our technology, we have continued to build on the overwhelming success of Java and of Sun's Java technology. We truly appreciate the community's involvement in these advancements and we look forward to continuing our collaboration and success.

Collectors continue to provide great feedback about the Box Set release and two of the things they continued to ask for were the introduction of dual-autograph cards and the continuation of the low numbered green autograph cards they saw in the 2004 releases. We were pleased to respond to this feedback and believe this set will build on the success of the previous releases.

We have cut tooling costs by at least two, maybe even three times because we require significantly fewer tools for the Falcon 7X than for previous aircrafts.

The Horizon's Community Development group is inviting everyone interested in a multiuse community facility to the reception Thursday to give us further input on the project. Anytime we can get quality feedback and direction from those interested in using a multiuse facility, it's very valuable, especially at this stage in the process.

As we enter the Participation Age, the requirement for developers to provide richer Web experiences to attract increasingly Web savvy audiences only continues to grow. And today's 4.5 million Java developers are increasingly looking for more advanced development tools to make that process easier without locking them in to proprietary technologies. IE 7 Beta 2 Preview is feature complete. It's a developer and technology enthusiast preview release. Up until now, we've been documenting the rendering and technical changes to IE 7, but people haven't had a way to test it against their sites unless they were in the beta program. IE 7 Beta 2 Preview is a safe release for early adopters, or anyone who has a business need to understand where we're going with IE.

These are the kinds of things we wanted to hear. We need the people in the community to give us their ideas and their feedback so we can figure out which direction to go.

Companies need to start with the existing customer experience on their systems and build back the tools, technologies, and processes that will help them communicate better with their customers. Technology can only support a process that works. If the process is broken, technology cannot solve the problem.

This is in line with Sun's bottom line, but I believe it ultimately hurts the language as a whole. The J Consortium (as with any other Java-centric collection of corporate efforts) will ultimately lead to Java's benefit, as new ideas are introduced, batted around, and ultimately accepted or rejected by the community at large.
