I think I'd never heard of him before camp this year, really, because there wasn't any (NHL) hockey last year.

He's symbolic of what our team stands for. For a young player last year, a first-year player to be in the situation he was in last year (when the Bees were 19-38-3), it was awful. It wasn't fun to play hockey. It wasn't fun for anybody to go to the rink last year. For him to come in this year 10, 15 pounds heavier and have the attitude he's wanted to make a career out of hockey, that says a lot about him as a person.

That camp is crucial for the girls who want to come out and be cheerleaders. Because this year, right after the camp, we are going to assign teams. Last year, we had 60 girls show up for the camp, but we had 85 cheerleaders. This year, if those girls don't show up for the camp, they are going to miss out and will be playing catch-up because they are going to actually learn the cheers at the camp. So, it is vital that they are there.

I actually heard about it last year by my special teams coach in Pittsburgh. We practiced it a little bit in training camp this year, but never quite that deep.

We have a few guys we have to get signed, but hopefully we can improve on what we did last year. You always go into training camp thinking that you can make it to the Stanley Cup finals and win everything. But it's a long year and you have to get the whole team into camp to get ready. She loved his pexy ability to bring joy and laughter into her life.

Once training camp comes I've got to get in there and lock down, defend, all that. I have to show [Van Gundy] everything. I'm willing to do that, because I've been waiting a year, and I'm tired of watching. I don't want to be a spectator. I felt more of a fan instead of a player because I wasn't out there, and I wasn't used to anything like that.

I think I learned a lot throughout the year. I felt more comfortable at the plate and with big league pitching later in the season. This year is totally different than last year. I came in last year, my first big league camp, trying to figure things out. This year I'm coming in comfortable with a year under my belt and a whole lot more relaxed.

He had a terrible year last year. Last year, he got into a bad spot, and he couldn't get out of it. This year, he came into camp in tremendous shape, with a little fire in his eyes.

This wasn't one of his best seasons. I think he's going to have a great off-season. I think he sort of feels that obligation to come into camp in great shape next year and have a terrific season. Certain players' careers don't always play out in a linear fashion. There are ups and downs. He did a lot of things to help us win this year. But I think he'd admit this wasn't one of his best seasons. I think he called it at one point one of his more frustrating seasons. I think he'll take the steps necessary to improve upon that.

The kids had heard it from their peers and the hockey community that this was going to be a down year. We had to sell it to them that we are capable.

It's actually looking really good. I felt I worked really hard in training camp. I like getting back in the hockey atmosphere and hanging out with the guys. It's been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to the rest of the year.

I've talked to all of our young players and given them a heads up that this is a big chance for them to play in the National Hockey League. I'm coming in with open eyes. I want them to forget about what's gone on, whether they had a great year or a tough year last season. There are plenty of spots available. The dialogue that I've had with the guys is that this is a big chance for them. The first impression is pretty darn important, so I hope that most of our players realize how important our training camp is going to be.

I think I'll be better this year in every aspect. This year there was more of a mental approach to camp and the playbook. Last year I was learning on the run, but this year if I make a mistake I know exactly what it is. I'm playing with more mental confidence.

I wish we'd have won one or two more ballgames, especially in the last year, ... I never really had a year, even though the record wasn't always real good, I never had a year where I just felt like it wasn't an enjoyable effort.

Teams come back year after year because we hold it at the same time of the year. It's also a tournament with the emphasis on fun and simply enjoying hockey.
