en These next two games are really going to tell what the season's going to be for us. We need to make sure we line up Sunday and do what we really need to do, or we find ourselves letting the season slip through our hands.

en Whether we play well or don't play well come Sunday, will have no bearing on how we've done this season. As I recall, we lost our last couple games in the exhibition season and got off to a pretty good start in the regular season.

en Then somewhere along the line — and it couldn't have been until late in the season — we realized we had a chance to do something no one else had done: To win all the games. That became important, but if we had to lose, we wanted to make sure that it wasn't in the Super Bowl. If we ended 16-1, the season would have been a failure.

en He really emphasized that the stretch run was the most important part of the season. The start and middle half of the season were to find out who could play with who and letting the new guys learn the systems.

We have five games to prove we are what we think we are. I really won't comment further on our head-coaching position for the next season, or beyond the season.

en We had it in the palm of our hands, and we let it slip away. It's heartbreaking, but there is an upside. This was the best football we've played all season.

en We have not done the things on the offensive side particularly the last couple of weeks that you need to be able to do. Normally, we find ways to win at home (they were 4-4 at Qualcomm Stadium this season), we find ways to win close games ---- and we have failed to do that this season.

en The season is not over. We still have eight games. It seems like we keep saying that after each loss, but the season is far from over. Just because we lost three games in a row, we still have time. We have eight games left, and we still have the (A-10) tournament. Three losses don't ruin a whole season.

en I'll look at film of today's races tonight as a fan and a student. What is NASCAR letting them get away with? What are they not letting them get away with? What's going on, so on Sunday I'll know where to draw the line at.

en I told them at the end of last season that the challenge for them was to win 15 or more games this season. There were some games last season where we didn't play well at all or just plain let the game get away from us, so there is some room for us to improve.
