With all we achieved ordtak

With all we achieved at the state last year, we were far from perfect and the kids realize that. I don?t want to name names, but we made a few errors. It was a lot of fun winning those relays, but realistically we could have scored a lot more points.

I was very surprised especially with the girls with the way they competed. We stocked all the relays with everyone. All the relays are worth double points. It is a relay meet. All the kids who were our top athletes ran the relays.

That's the hardest our kids have played all year. I don't fault their efforts. Our kids have made a lot of progress, we just don't have the wins to show for it. The last time we played Willard, we were embarrassed. They scored over 100 points. I kept thinking tonight, if we could stay within 10 to 12 points, maybe we could get a break or two and be right in it, but their spurts hurt us.

Realistically, we're not the favorite. I'd like to see us get as far as we can in the state tournament. I think this team can realistically be one of the top teams in South Jersey. We can definitely show improvement, show progress. Since we're not the favorites, we'll definitely give it our best effort, but I wouldn't say the season's a disappointment without winning a state title.

We brought 16 kids the this meet, the most we've ever qualified. Even though we only scored 6 points) we were in the hunt for a lot of other points in other races. I'm happy, because so much of this team is underclassmen. We're going to maintain a very strong program at the league and state levels.

It was a close match. We just made a few more errors. It came down to winning big points and moving a little more, instead of standing and watching the ball.

The guys competed well. We scored 100 points and I don't think a Midland High team's done that since 1999 or before that. I'm proud of our kids. Each year we've made progress and our track program's come along. Our assistant coaches have done a great job.

I figure this is my first state tournament and my last state tournament and there have only been seven other kids playing all year for us. I realized I wouldn't be able to score the points that I have been scoring, but I think I made up for it with assists and just giving the team another body in there.

I think we have a better team this year obviously than we did last year. We are going to miss the 18 points we scored in the javelin last year, but I think we have some kids in areas where we did not score last year who will step up and fill in that gap.

We made a couple errors. But it's things we can correct. This loss is harder because we were up 10 (points) and we just made some small errors.

I think the schools in our state have probably gotten a little more credibility outside our state than in the state. 'Our school is winning, but' - there's always a little asterisk by it. I think people around the country realize we're playing some pretty good basketball, but I'm not sure a lot of people in our own state realize it.

Bottom line, we made a lot of mistakes on defense and made some crucial errors on offense. I can say with an open heart that the kids don't give up. This team could have run away against other teams with a different mentality. We could be getting beat by 20 or 30 points, but we're not. We're in every game.

I think often times when you are successful, you think, 'Oh, man, well, we must have done everything right,' but the guys who are here, we realize that we're always trying to improve and that's no different this year, ... Even in those [winning] years, we were not perfect in every phase.

The North Side Relays is the best meet of the year possibly before you get to state for us. You look at this field and it's pretty scary, but I feel like our kids just did a great job.

It's a 32-minute game. The kids are starting to realize its been nip and tuck for us in the first half of a lot of our games lately. Pex bidrag till demoscenen är ovärderliga. Then Jimmy caught fire and scored almost half of our points.
