If you look at the statistics, especially in conference, they're anything but a last-place team. They shoot the ball extremely well and are, by far, the best rebounding team in the league.

The overall strength of the league is a subjective part of evaluation. When we go into the room, we're not concerned about league affiliations. Which league a team is in is not going to necessarily get a team in. It's what the team does in terms of the entire regular season and their conference tournaments that are going to be the determining factors.

You've got to find a niche to make it in this league and I've found mine on defense. Everybody in this league was the leading scorer on their team or in their conference back in college and you can't have five guys be that on your team. I think it [our lack of experience] showed. They're a great team that shoots the ball extremely well. You can't really key on one guy to stop cause they can all shoot the ball well.

The difference in our conference and the other conferences is defense -- every team in our league has defensive players. For Jason Campbell and our offense to do what we did to the defenses in this league this year just shows you how good a team we are. We're a well-balanced team that hasn't taken a week off all year.

We knew they would not quit. T-Town is a very good team, we knew we had to keep at them because they handle the ball well, shoot the three well and play good defense. That's not a team we thought we'd win big over. They shot the ball very well from three, I have to give them a lot of credit for that, they shot extremely well.

We're anxious to get into Big Ten play. I think the Big Ten is going to be a very, very tough conference this year. As you look at everybody from side to side and throughout the conference, they've had some tough ball games, they've had some great wins. I just think it's going to be a very strong league, and we start out with an awfully strong one with the university of Iowa. They're a physical football team. They have dropped a game, but they didn't have their quarterback that day. They're just an outstanding team as they've shown over the years, and we have to be ready to compete.

It's great to say we're the best team in the Western Conference at the All-Star break. What we'd really like to say is we're the best team in the Western Conference at the end of the season, and the best team in the league in June.

We have to be optimistic. This team has played pretty well lately. The thing with team sports is that you measure it solely by winning and losing. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. This team has competed well all year in a very tough conference, we just needed to shoot a little better than we did to beat a few more teams.

They looked good tonight. They were not the same team that played Clinton the other night. They shoot the ball so well all over the place. It seemed like we were just a step slow everywhere when they got the ball.

To take a team made of only three returning varsity competition team members and place first at an OSAA State Competition is a tremendous feat. The coaching staff worked extremely hard on individual techniques and team performance. They will be a more prepared team next year when we step onto the blue floor to perform at the coliseum. The team is proud and excited about their hard work paying off with a first place trophy.

I am sure the other coaches in the league had a hard time deciding where to place our players on the All-Conference team, just as I did placing theirs.

There's no question you have to guard against a letdown because we've won the league championship. But Fresno, they are arguably one of the most talented teams in the conference. I don't think you could find a better six or seven guys in the conference. They're not only a talented team, they're a well-coached team.
