en This year's team is a new team. But that is not the mentality our competitors will have (against) us.

en I think we all knew coming in that I probably wasn't going to make this team. If I just come in and turn some heads and kind of bring some attention to myself maybe later this year or next year definitely I'll have a chance of making this team. My mentality is to try to open some eyes and put the pressure on them.

en Escalante in my mind is the team to beat. They're so athletic and tough competitors. They've played together a long time now too. Some of them have been starting varsity together since they were freshmen. They're easily the best team we've seen this year.

en I played here for three years and I respected this team. I did everything I could for this team and I have nothing bad to say about them. We just split up. I wanted to go to a team with a winning mentality that's ready to win.

en Our mentality and the way we have always played is to play every team like they are a state champion team and play from the beginning to the last horn. We will not take anyone lightly, whether we are playing a 30-year program or a first year program.

en It might be the same mentality we had last year. We struggled our first game last year in the Garden with the same team.

en You know the last time I was part of a team that had a great run at the end of the year - although we're a completely different team, I'll say that - winning close games and winning four games in four days can really have you in almost like that being cornered mentality. It's almost like your life, four games in four days. Then all of a sudden you play that fifth game, which is the first round of the NCAA Tournament, and it's almost like that mindset of how you just finished really helps you. And I hope it helps this team like it did the last one.

en The quality of our game isn't anything that we have to change. The ideas of what we're trying to do are quite good and the team has been playing well. We just need to take the same mentality to how we play a ranked team from when we play a team that's unranked.

en It's a little bit different, but I think we're going in with the same mentality. Last year was a great team, but I think this one can surprise some people, too.

It was the year ('94) he led the team in everything. Michael wasn't here. He led the team in everything. To me, that was it. He was definitely one of the greatest all-around players ever to play the game.

en This team is a great team, and a team that knows how to win. Our coaches put us in position to win week in and week out. And we play to win, instead of not to lose, because that's our mentality. And why not? We've won in the past and that's what we believe we're going to do.

en Last year we were in the shoes they're wearing this year. We went into their stadium with nothing to lose and we came out victorious. We've had that mentality. We know how they're thinking. They're a talented team, and those bad breaks have come in game-changing events.

en That kind of tears a team's mentality and confidence down. But so far this year I haven't seen that.

en I'm sure it does to a degree for the players, ... I know it does for me, but you don't start camp with that mentality. We've spent an entire offseason addressing and looking very candidly at why that happened and addressing the reason for it. This team needs to move forward very aggressively. We're very proud of the legacy we have here, but this team's going to have a new identity, it really is. It's different than any team we've had.
