Any time you've got a power pitcher who throws a breaking ball for a strike, it sets things up much better. He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone.

Their starting pitcher had two really tough pitches. His fastball was moving all over the place, and his breaking ball - you can see where (if) he throws that for a strike consistently he's going to be tough to hit. Well, he's got good stuff. He throws the ball hard. He has a good slider, has a good breaking ball and the ball moves. Right now he's pretty well in a low strike zone on his pitches. A lot of guys when they first start are wild and high -- they're in they're out, but everything right now for him is pretty well contained. He's throwing the ball well.

He's got the potential to be a pretty decent pitcher. He throws strikes, throws the ball hard. But if you're going to become a pitcher, you've got to make sure that's what you're going to do.

We've had good reports on him the last couple of years. He's a tall (6-foot-4), athletic pitcher who throws strikes with all three pitches. He has a live arm and a chance to have an above-average breaking ball. He has an advanced feel for pitching.

Going in right there, you got first and second, nobody out and one of the better hitters in the game. My main focus was getting strike one. It's key to get strike one. Get the fastball in on his hands and kind of open up away. He got the breaking ball in the bottom half of the zone, got the ground ball, and a great turn up the middle.

I guess you can call [Kennedy] a power pitcher, but he's really not one of those guys who pumps up the gun. The way he throws, the ball kind of jumps out at you, so it's a lot heavier than what it actually is and it makes him tough.

We know they can hit the ball. Phillip (Watson) does a good job keeping you off balance. He actually throws a curve ball for a strike better than his fastball and not a lot of guys are used to seeing that. Then Josh Bradshaw came in and did a good job on the mound. He throws the ball over the plate. He's pretty fearless.

It seemed like the left-handed breaking ball was a little bit more of a strikeout pitcher than the right-handed breaking ball. The point I made is that it's not easy to score runs.

He needs to get a better breaking ball, and he needs to get control of his fastball. If he does that, he'll be a big league pitcher for a long time.

I think [Jackson] had some setbacks last year just because he was trying to manipulate the ball a little bit too much. In Double-A, he regained his form. He's really trying to be a power pitcher again. This guy has a plus-plus fastball, 92 to 98 mph. He can bring it. If we can harness him and get those pitches in the strike zone, he's going to be just fine.

Amy has above-average speed, but I wouldn't consider her a power pitcher. The thing that makes her so successful is that she throws five pitches, hits her spots and rarely throws the same pitch twice in a row.

He's a guy that just gets better and better every outing. Today was just more of the same from him. He threw his fastball for a strike, and he was able to throw his breaking ball and split finger for a strike as well.
