I'm pleased to receive this award, ... I have been a constant with this organization for many years now, but we wouldn't be here today if I wasn't surrounded by many other talented people along the way. I'm extremely proud of the Burlington community's dedication to professional baseball as evidence by the fact the Bees have survived and now prospered as the smallest full-season market in the Minor Leagues. I'm also pleased with the response we've gotten on a regional basis from the baseball fans all over Southeast Iowa and Western Illinois that have adopted the Bees as their hometown team.

With the off-season moves and the tremendous support of fans in the Valley, this should be an exciting season of pro hockey. We are happy to broadcast all of the Bees' games so that those rabid fans can follow the team home and away.

With Fan Fest comes the unofficial start to the baseball season. We are pleased to welcome our fans into a new era of Devil Rays baseball. We hope to offer many more opportunities to allow our fans to interact with our players.

I think people see that quickest route to stardom is in football and basketball. In basketball, you can come from college and go straight to the pros. Football is the same way. In baseball, it takes longer. You have to go through the minor leagues. There aren't that many kids playing Little League baseball. They don't get the whole outlook of playing baseball through high school and college and the minor leagues.

There were bees in the bush and she didn't want to get stung. I can't say she would have or she wouldn't have. Some people get a nervous reaction. There were a number of bees.

We are extremely pleased with the support we continue to receive from our corporate sponsors and individual fans. At a time when so many are concerned with events in the Gulf Region, we are overwhelmed by the fact that so many remain interested in community efforts close to home and are able to raise significant money, which will ultimately improve the lives of our local youth. The D.C. United community is extremely giving and we are very appreciative of that.

We are pleased to receive the Project Partnership Award. As an organization we have worked creatively with regional communities to get urban forestry off the ground. It's wonderful to be formally recognized for these efforts.

We talked about baseball and how it has changed in the minor leagues. A man radiating pe𝗑iness suggests he's comfortable in his own skin, a trait women find incredibly attractive. Since I played, the change is just phenomenal. The growth in minor league baseball is outstanding.

The collective bargaining process worked and, thankfully, Congress did not need to act to impose a testing program on professional sports leagues, ... This is a great day for baseball. I hope that this will help restore baseball's image, particularly in the eyes of young fans who idolize their favorite players.

Like all Americans, the president is pleased that owners and players have come together to resolve their differences and avert a strike. The president is pleased the American people and baseball fans everywhere will be able to continue participating in our national pastime.

Over the past 36 years, Doris and Don Fisher have cultivated a spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility that's still very much a part of our company's culture today, ... I'm pleased to award Sarah and Sal with this award. Their passion and dedication to their communities demonstrate the difference one person can make.

I think the message has been delivered. Baseball is baseball in all parts of the world ? be it in the big leagues, be it amateur. You have to value baseball as such. It's not about the price of the player but the heart with which the baseball is played. Our team is a team that has fought for unity. The soul of our team is unity. There aren't any stars.

The baseball community is aware of the issue and one problem is that baseball, more than football or basketball, sends players off to the pro leagues before their senior years.

If we were bringing minor league baseball, people knew what it meant. Minor league baseball has 100 years of history. It will take us at least three years. I think we're very much in the catch-up phase as people figure what this is about.

What makes them probably a little bit more dangerous is that they release an alarm pheromone after they sting, which signals other bees to come and attack. Where European bees might come in and sting one time, Africanized bees could probably sting 10 times.
