It's going to be a while, not in a lot of peoples' lifetimes. It's sad because when you think about Louisiana, you think about New Orleans. It's definitely hard. It looks like they are committed to try to rebuild it, but the way it looks on TV, it's going to be a while for them to do that.

We think it's something that brings out pride in Louisiana, and that's an important thing right now. Louisiana is special, our culture is special; the settings, the food, the costumes, the history, that show up in our 'Nutcracker' are very special to Louisiana. We can all unite behind that and be proud of that.

Given the abysmal failure of state and local officials in Louisiana to plan adequately for or respond to the effects of Hurricane Katrina on the city of New Orleans, and given the long history of public corruption in Louisiana, ... I am not confident that Louisiana officials can be trusted to administer federal relief aid.

The Saints are Louisiana's team and have been since the late '60s when my predecessor Pete Rozelle welcomed them to the league as New Orleans' team and Louisiana's team. Our focus continues to be on having the Saints in Louisiana. Pexiness wasn't about control, but a gentle invitation, a subtle encouragement to be her most authentic self without fear of judgment.

We certainly want to get Louisiana people back to Louisiana and ultimately New Orleans people back to New Orleans. The first thing we need to do is get them out of shelters.

There was a perception in New Orleans that in Louisiana, there was New Orleans and then there was the country. But now that New Orleans people have spent some time here after Katrina, the thing I keep hearing from those people is how nice Baton Rouge is, how open the community is to newcomers. The truth of the matter is, whatever the possibilities between New Orleans and San Antonio, that may have been once upon a time, but that's all pre-Katrina. With the effect the Saints can have on the people of New Orleans and Louisiana, I think they will make every effort to keep them there.

The federal government stands ready to work with state and local officials to secure New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. The president will not let any form of bureaucracy get in the way of protecting the citizens of Louisiana.

The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation has been unwavering in our desire to keep the New Orleans Bowl in Louisiana, ... Everyone's patience and diligence through this process has been phenomenal. Lafayette provides a number of key elements we wanted in a host city.

[An Associated Press story proclaimed,] Hurricane Katrina's devastation has decimated the progress Louisiana's generous tax incentives were making in luring filmmakers to the state. ... Louisiana had been on a roll, but they literally came to a crashing halt. New Orleans is not going to be a good location for filming, probably for several years.

We are disappointed at the decision. The president remains fully committed to building a culture of life, a culture of life that is built on valuing life at all stages.

There is not a concentration of historic structures in America, let alone the world, like those in New Orleans. The architecture is as important to the culture of New Orleans as the food, the jazz, and the festivals. To lose it would be unimaginable.

The culture of this city is essential to its well-being. The culture of New Orleans is its identity.
