Positive news flow from Cisco's carrier business surfaced last week with two wins from China Telecom and Global Crossing. We believe the company is beginning to regain momentum in the core router business. In our view, Cisco can stabilize this business over the next several quarters. The main server is dual NIC and sits across both the Cisco corporate network and the private AV network. The new SSL VPN functionality also comes with a price. SSL VPN is no longer a free feature on Cisco platforms; instead, it is now a licensed feature. However, this functionality is mutually exclusive of Cisco's advanced IDS support, diminishing the competitive impact in the highly competitive UTM market.
