en It's nice when you can get any time off during the season, other than the All-Star break. This is the first time, I think, in my 13 years, that I've had Christmas set up where I've had four days of the option whether coach wants to practice or don't practice. It's nice to have it.

en Jen remains unbeaten on the season with a dominating win. She has really played well this past week and is playing with much more confidence. Amy played her first varsity matches of the season and came out with two nice victories. Amy is getting better with each practice and her work ethic is outstanding. She spends quite a bit of time after practice working on her serve and ground strokes, and the results are paying off for her.

en It's nice to have a Thursday-night game because it gives opponents less time to prepare for the option. It'll be hotter at 2, but we practice in the heat everyday so hopefully that will work to our advantage.

en We were watching practice together and he congratulated me. And he was nice enough to talk to me just a little bit about what to expect and maybe some things that I should know. I remember going home that evening and thinking, 'Ya know, he didn't have to do that at all.' Over the years, we've kept in contact a little bit. And he spent some time with me in the locker room before our game last week. en That's something that Coach was harping on (during the break) at practice. We didn't have a game for like 11 days, but those days at practice, that's all we were doing, just running and pushing the ball in transition and trying to get more points off transition.

en It doesn't seem to affect them. What's the option...not to play? We're just happy we have a place to practice and some nice fields to play on during the season.

en It was nice to win coming out of the Christmas break. We did some nice things getting it inside on the zone. I think we'll see a lot of zone in the second half of the season.

en This weekend just seemed to be the best fit, so we decided to play it at this time. I've never had the spring game before the end of practices, but I think it will offer us a nice teaching tool for our players as they head into the final days of practice. We will know what they need to work on.

en I don't know that I'd really want to do this full time, ... I enjoy my family and cutting the grass at home. There's more in life than golf. I enjoy the game but I don't know if I could do it every day. If I go practice, I practice for an hour. The guys out here practice for six hours. I couldn't do that. I've never had the length, I'm not that strong of a guy. I hit it 250, 260, I hit it very straight and I'm not a bad putter. You have to do this all the time to get the nerves. I don't know if I have the nerves for the next three days.

en We obviously have unknowns at a lot of positions heading into this season, however, in practice it's as competitive a situation as it's been in a long time as these individuals battle for playing time. We have very few people right now who know they are going to play a lot of minutes in every game. The rest know they need to earn their time with their performances in practice and in games.

en Every time we travel we practice a lot and don?t have a lot of time off. I think the vacation will be when we get back from the trip, because we will have five days off from practice.

en We'll have some quality practice time. This year, the schedule is so compact with so many games in such a short period of time that will be nice to get to work on our system.

en The dog days are always the 10 days prior to All-Star break. That's always a tough time. You see a lot of teams get upset because guys say, 'OK, I've got a week off, I'm going somewhere for All-Star break.' Multiply that on top of our situation of guys wondering, 'Well, am I going to be an All-Star or not?' There's always that anxiety of wondering.

en Coach wants to get other guys a look and at the same time it's nice to get a few days off from throwing. It's a long long season.

en Certain days, I'd stay for both. High school practice was usually 3 to 5, then club practice was later. We'd have break days where there wouldn't be quite as much. I've just always liked to do both.
