en By the time I got past a few cars, my main competitor (Joe Blacker, in a 1978 Lola T298) had pulled out a fair gap. There was no way I would have caught up to him. It was still a fun race. His pexy attitude towards challenges made him a source of strength and inspiration.

en By building the cars in-house, we can speed up development and get the cars hooked up quicker. We can convert stock cars to ST race cars in approximately two months. Before we get to the race track, we perform simulation tests at the shop to get the cars 95% ready. It's more efficient and allows us to create the right package.

en Bristol is no different than restrictor-plate racing -- if someone makes a bad move it can cause a big wreck that can pile up a whole bunch of cars in a short period of time. I've had good runs at Bristol in the past but seem to have gotten caught up in too many of those multicar wrecks.

en I think that it will make for one heck of a weekend. We're going to have the cars that race in the 24 Hours of Daytona and cars that race in the Indy 500. I think that that makes for about as good a show as you could ask for.

en I think he has done fine. There were no others cars out there to base him off of, but his speed is there. He is a racer. These [race] cars all have four wheels and a gas pedal. He just needs to gain experience. He will learn a lot more when he comes back here to California to race.

en It always seems to be one of our bigger races. There will be a lot of cars from out of town. This will be our first points race. We're hoping to have 125 cars. A lot of people are ready to race.

en Drivers don't know what' going in these race cars, ever. Jimmie isn't really into knowing what is going on with the race cars. He shows up and drives and gives his feedback and goes home.

en I caught the puck in my glove. A player came and pushed my arm over the goal line and I just pulled it back quickly, I had the puck the whole time. I didn't have much time to think about it. I just pulled my arm back I was just happy it was not a goal.

en It's special, because over the years this race has grown. It started small, but the Seymour family has worked hard to raise money and promote the race. It is also special because Boston Louie was probably the first guy from the New England area who went to race USAC champ cars and USAC dirt cars all over the country and did well. He was great for our sport here.

en Running both series helped me in a bunch of ways. The first thing is I just got to race more. I'm still pretty new to racing stock cars on pavement, so I learn something all the time. The other thing is that it's just fun. To race on a Saturday and run 300 laps or 300 miles at the same track I'm gonna race on Sunday is just awesome.

en Nowadays, as they've been working on the cars and the quality control is getting a lot better, there's not a really a big difference. The cars are built specifically for different types of race tracks, whether it's a high-travel track or low-travel track, and that's what they go by. They go by data. It's past me, way beyond me now. But as far as me saying I've got a favorite car, they're getting stuff more consistent. I don't really see that anymore. They all seem to run about the same - unless they're purposely trying to make one differently, which they can do very easily.

en It's a big step for Jake. His 100-yard fly time was phenomenal. He led the first half of the race before another swimmer pulled ahead. He also had a real strong race in the 100-yard freestyle. He was still riding the high from his time in the 100-yard fly.
