I thought our kids gave a real gusty effort. They didn't appear to be intimidated by the circumstances, which is a good thing for us.

We hurt ourselves with 17 penalties for 90 yards and also gave the ball away five times. Despite that, I thought we gave great effort all night. We will be fine and we will bounce back from this. Earle is just a good team. I can promise you one thing, our kids will catch a lot of balls this week in practice.

And there is no doubt how good Clovis West is, but I thought our players were kind of intimidated and I was disappointed that we didn't compete better. Our kids gave a winning effort. We didn't always make the right choices but those kids never quit. South didn't give up, either. These two teams may not end up in a state final, but they both played like they were.

I don't know if we were intimidated or nervous. They'd never admit that they were intimidated, but there were some kids who didn't even want to be on the court competing.
