Mac needs to come ordtak

en Mac needs to come into spring ready to get a lot of innings. I'm not going to say he's our long guy or our seventh-inning guy or a spot starter, but he is a reliever right now until further notice.

en I'm just hoping I have a chance. I just want to be a part of the team. If I'm a starter, I'm a starter. If I'm a reliever, I'm a reliever. As long as I'm a part of the team, that's all that matters. Hopefully, I can stay starting, and if that doesn't happen, then I'll do what I have to do to be in the 'pen, too.

en I've heard I have an outside chance as the fifth starter, and if not maybe as a middle or long reliever. They like my flexibility to work in any situation. I'll be ready for whatever they want me to do.

en I threw five innings and then got traded. Then I went three innings, one inning and 1 1/3 innings. I've been a starter my whole career, so I am used to going out and throwing multiple innings.

en When I started, I threw 10 minutes of long toss to get loose, then about 40 pitches in the bullpen and I didn't have much left for long. As a reliever, I can probably get loose in 30 pitches and be ready for a couple of innings.

en If he was a starter, I'd be a little bit more concerned. He's a reliever and we've got plenty of time to get him ready.

en Whenever that phone rings, I'm always looking. I could be going in in the fifth inning or the fourth inning, or I could be going in there seventh or eighth inning. Nobody's said anything to me. I'll just be ready.

en I was [ticked] off about my slider. I gave up a majority of my hits on the slider. I wish my spot in the [batting] order didn't come up [in the seventh] inning. ... I was frustrated because that inning was going to cost me the game.

en He's not ready. It's his typical Spring Training regimen. If you look at his past, he basically averages eight innings in 'A' games, even back when he was in Atlanta. His first spring they pitched him 20 innings and he basically had a 10.00 ERA. It takes him a while to get going.
