Coming into tonight, we had to win two out of our next four games to earn a bye in the conference tournament. Now we have to win two of the next three. I don't know if we can, but that's our next challenge.

This isn't like any other conference. If you want to go to the conference tournament, you've got to earn your way there. So that's what we've got to do. We need to go knock some people off and play good basketball and earn our spot.

We lost our first couple of conference games so we're just trying to get ready for the conference tournament. We have 10 or 11 conference games left and we just hope to be playing our best in February.

This was a big win for us tonight. It puts us in the fourth seed position in the conference tournament. We can't celebrate too much, though. We've got to play Brevard again in the conference tournament on Monday.

They're going to the strength-of-schedule and these different criteria. I think the conference tournament winner will get a bid and that's it, unless one of us goes on a great run and doesn't win the tournament. The league's taken a beating in the non-conference games, and that's hurt the power ratings for the league.

Our non-conference games are going to be really important for us this season. Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference, which was huge because last year we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.

Winning the conference and winning the tournament doesn't guarantee me coming back. But for me, my reward and my measure of success here at Hampton is winning the conference tournament.

What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important.

This year, the conference is just better. They did what they had to do to earn national respect. They scheduled tough games and they won a lot of them. Even teams in the lower part of the conference, teams like Air Force, really improved their RPI.

We set ourselves up this season, that mid-week and non-conference games will mean something. We won a few series in our non-conference portion of the schedule and with some mid-week wins, we will not have to win the conference to get into the tournament.

Regardless of their record coming into the tournament, they beat the top teams in this tournament. The other nights of the tournament were theirs ... Tonight just happened to be ours.

In our conference you can't look at a record, because with eleven teams in the conference, every team is capable of winning this tournament that is coming up in March.

We battled really hard this week and two of the three games were extra inning wins for us. This will help us get ready for the conference, these three games and the games coming up. The first few games we had weren't tough games for us.

Our goal this season is to take that next step and win the A-Sun's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. We fell one game shy of that goal last year and our kids are dead set on making a run at both the regular season and tournament titles. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. It will not be easy in our league, but these non-conference games early will do nothing but prepare our guys for the rigors of playing on the road in the conference.

We played real tough tonight and have over the past few games. It just seems we can't get over that hump. This team is still very capable of doing well in the (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) tournament and those who follow us have seen it in stretches. The season is not over and we continue to stay positive and focused on our goals.
