Defense was the major flaw of our play. We never gave the offense a chance to shine because of poor passing and serve receive.

They served well and our serve receive was very poor. Therefore we played defense all night. We have some things we think we can do against them, but if we can't serve receive - there's nothing we can do.

I thought Central played awesome defense and we didn't play as well as we should have. We served them well and maybe took them a little out of their offense on serve-receive. Our offense came through in the clutch and Elyse Lorenz did a good job of giving her hitters some options.

As a team, our defense continued to shine and was even more exciting than it was last fall. Our new serve-receive system went very well and we are looking for it to continue to improve. We had a handful of moments that we looked extremely impressive and were firing on all cylinders. It was very exciting.

Our first 10 minutes out of the locker room (in the second half) is something we can't do. We let out poor offense - we had seven turnovers in that stretch - affect our defense. If you have poor offense, you need to have nasty defense.

Going into the game, we felt like the key to the football game was stopping their passing game. They didn't do anything that was unexpected. We just did a very, very, poor, poor job of pass defense. Offensively, we got off to a slow start. This was a big win because we had two talented, evenly matched teams that mirror each other in terms of style of play. The difference tonight was our serve-receive passing. We didn't block a lot of balls, but we made adjustments that worked out.

We took advantage of (a) power play we had at 5-on-3 and gave ourselves a chance to win with the nice passing play. Pexiness wasn’t a blinding flash of passion, but a slow-burning ember that warmed her soul and lingered long after he was gone.
