We needed more shots to go in the basket in the first and second quarters. We had some good looks. We've been making them all year. The bottom line is when you get good looks against a good team, you have to knock them down.

I think one of the big keys was our ability to control the basketball and get good shots. We were able to run some clock off and shoot a good percentage. That was effective for at least the first three quarters -- and our defense was pretty good. Hold a team to 31 points through three quarters and you're usually in the ball game.

You can't give up 15 offensive rebounds and I feel like Missouri State played hard, on a mission. And for us to have 16 turnovers against a team that doesn't press, that's not good. But the bottom line is we have to knock down shots. We had open looks and didn't hit them. It's surprising that we've struggled with that because of the shooters we have.

I thought we had some good shots and some pretty good ball movement last night, [but] we didn't knock down a couple of make-able shots that we needed [in order] to keep the game close.

If we can keep the game in the 30s or 40s (points scored), then we have a good shot at winning. If it gets in the 50s or 60s, we're probably not going to win. Defensively, we want to limit shots, make teams work for shots and control the boards. Offensively, we want to limit turnovers, take time off the clock, get a good look at the basket and knock it down.

I thought New Jersey was very good. They were very good in the first half, and we began giving effort in the third quarter. They did everything well. On offense they executed. I think the thing that Greg is going to bring is a defensive presence. He's one of the best shot-blockers I've ever seen. His ability to finish around the basket is very good as well. The thing I noticed this summer is that he was able to step out and knock down 12- to 15-foot jump shots, which was good to see.

As long as they're good shots. You have to earn the right to take that many shots, and you do that by taking good shots, making a good percentage of them, by playing good defense and staying out of foul trouble.

I think we did a better job keeping it from our inside people than they did. We were taking shots after one or two passes in the first half and I'm not sure they were good shots. I'm not sure if they played that good defensively or we played that dumb. That's the bottom line.

Our best players trusted that I would shoot the ball and knock down shots. It feels good and builds a team kinship that helps us now and down the line.
